Hennings Honored by Pheasants Forever for Career of Pheasant Work

Saint Paul, Minn. – January 30, 2008 – Minnesota Pheasants Forever (PF) awarded Kim Hennings, a Wildlife Land Acquisition Coordinator for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the 2008 Minnesota PF Professional of the Year Award. Hennings was honored this month at PF's National Pheasant Fest 2008 and 25th Anniversary Convention presented by Cabela's in Saint Paul.

The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the protection of wildlife, habitat and our hunting heritage in Minnesota.  The honor is awarded annually to a person who demonstrates uncommon achievements for pheasant and other wildlife habitat. As a DNR Wildlife Land Acquisition Coordinator, Hennings has helped acquire 1,380 tracts totaling 163,500 acres of state Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) during his career.

"For the past 29 years, Kim Hennings has been tirelessly working for the pheasants and other wildlife of Minnesota," said Matt Holland, senior field coordinator for PF.  "His fingerprints are on a significant number of the Wildlife Management Areas you encounter in the Minnesota pheasant range and beyond.  Sportsmen and women as well as the citizenry of Minnesota are indebted to Kim for his dedication and service to the state WMA system."

"I am very humbled by this," said Hennings after accepting the award.  "I really appreciate receiving it, and it really goes to my peers - both at DNR and at Pheasants Forever - who work with me doing one project at time to make the world a better place for pheasants and other Minnesota wildlife."  

Hennings is a Grafton, Wisconsin native.  He earned his bachelor’s of science in wildlife from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and went on to receive his master’s of science in wildlife at the University of Minnesota.

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are non-profit conservation organizations dedicated to the protection and enhancement of pheasant, quail, and other wildlife populations in North America through habitat improvement, land management, public awareness, and education.  PF/QF has more than 115,000 members in 700 local chapters across the continent.
