Mule Deer Foundation to Celebrate 20 Years, 1988-2008
Mule Deer Foundation to Celebrate 20 Years, 1988-2008
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) will hold its
20th Anniversary Banquet and Auction on Thursday, February 7, 2008.
The event will take place in conjunction with the Western Hunting and
Conservation Expo (WHCE) at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah.
In 1988, MDF was founded by wildlife filmmaker and hunter Emmett
Burroughs in Redding, Calif. Since that time, the Foundation has
raised millions of dollars through local chapter banquets and its
national convention, and today MDF is the leader in conservation of
mule deer, black-tailed deer and their habitats.
At last year’s annual event, Burroughs donated his MDF Life
Membership #1, along with some of the first MDF publications and
other memorabilia. These items brought a winning bid of $6,500.
The 20th Anniversary celebration promises even more great surprises.
MDF President Miles Moretti said, “Some of the best hunts, outdoor
merchandise and wildlife tags will be auctioned off during this
exciting event. The proceeds will go a long way towards the MDF
mission and benefiting wildlife.”
Moretti concluded, “We’ve come a long way in 20 years. Our heritage
will speak for itself for many years down the road, and the future
has never looked so bright.”
MDF is once again teaming up with Sportsmen For Habitat (SFH) and the
Foundation for North American Wild Sheep (FNAWS) for the WHCE Feb.
6-9, 2008. There will be over 500 exhibits featuring the best in
outdoor products, wildlife art, hunts and trips. Attendees will be
able to join the experts and learn about hunter safety, shooting,
hunting skills and more. Entertainment will include special musical
guest Alan Jackson!
