A conversation with the RMEF about Real Estate Advertising.

In the last couple of issues you may have noticed some advertising in the latest issue of Bugle magazine for real estate.  I am not sure about you but on initial look these advertisements got my hackle up a bit.  For an organization that is working so hard to protect land from development why would they be advertising for real estate companies.  Well a couple of emails later and I now have the answers for you as follows:

Ducks Unlimited has an offer to Double your Donation Dollars

Why we created HuntingLife.com

Writing about our passions was something we kind of fell into in order to share our passions.  Writing has been something that I have always loved to do but a skill that has not always come easy.

Our site was built to bring about a change in the way people think about hunting, conservation and the pursuit of their passions.  We look forward to continuing our passion of creating and developing from continued work on HuntingLife.com to our upcoming fishing website in the spring of 2008 and then Hunting Life Adventures television to debut in 2009.

We hope you enjoy the site and come back often...

An open letter to outfitters about our advertising sales.

Outfitters,

I got to see a very interesting email today from an outfitter in the south( I wont share it here to protect his privacy).  This outfitter was frustrated by the poor quality of outdoor websites and publication companies ripping off outfitters in the marketplace.  He has been ripped off way to many times. I have to agree with this outfitter in regards to the growth of poor quality websites  and poor quality publications in the marketplace.  While this is true that there are some poor quality sites like anything else, bad sites are also offset by some really great websites in the market place.

Renewable Resources Foundation and Coalition

Flying across the web at breakneck speed faster then the speed of my dog,  I come across some pretty cool websites.  The Renewable Resources Coalition just one of those cool sites that you find out there about people doing something for the good of mankind in the hunting and fishing world.

The Virginia Outdoor Sportsman Show

The Virginia Outdoor Sportsman Show has been going strong for 24 years in Richmond, Virginia and for the last 7 years I have been proud to be attending this show and getting to see the old friends and meet new ones each and every year.

This show was created by Hugh Crittenden and is one of the best run local shows I attend each and every year.  In any given year I attend on average 12 different outdoor shows and stating that this is one of the best that I attend is a pretty high honor.

The show is at the Showplace at 3000 Mechanicsville Turnpike in Richmond, Virginia and this year they will have Stan Potts and Greg Miller doing seminars and I will be front and center for both of those speakers hoping to learn more to prepare for my own whitetail season.

With over 290 booths, a tremendous whitetail deer and turkey contest, free parking and children under 15 getting in for free this is an event for the whole family.

Get out there and get out of the oppressive heat in Virginia and start preparing for the coming season.

Hunters for the Hungry - Virginia Hunters Doing Good Work

Phillip over at the Hog Blog created a challenge and Kristine over at the Hunt Smart, Think Safety Blog thought it would be great if we all responded to that challenge.  The challenge is to write an article talking about all the good things that hunters are doing in society today and to pick one that we appreciated and respected and share it with our readers.

Read more about some great programs that I found here in Virginia that I am proud to support and in some cases volunteer for.

Bring back our hunting lands.

There has been a debate raging for years in regards to the prices of out of state tag prices.  U.S Congressman Duncan Hunter(R-CA) has announced the introduction of the Teddy Roosevelt Bring Back our Public Lands Act in the U.S. House of Representatives.  This came to me via the Black Bear Blog.  This is going to be a very interesting story to watch and track and poll over the next couple of months.

GAME COMMISSION ANNOUNCES THAT EAGLE RECOVERY CONTINUES

HARRISBURG - Pennsylvania Game Commission employees' efforts to save a young bald eagle have paid off, as the eaglet has spread its wings and flown from its adopted nest in Berks County.

"The story began this spring, when a strong windstorm damaged an eagle's nest along Lancaster County's Conestoga River," said Doug Killough, Game Commission Southeast Region director.  "Half the nest blew away, and the three eaglets that were in it eventually fell to the ground.

A heartfelt Thought!

Our hearts and minds are with those who have been hurt in Minnesota in this very tragic event.  Now go hug someone you love, Call someone you miss, Say I am sorry to who you know you should, Be a friend to those in need, and live your life to the fullest because any one of us could have been on that bridge!  Life is fragile, Very Very Fragile!!!!!

NUFF SAID!

Team Hunting Life!

Anti Hunting HSUS plan has upset the WWF and others!

The Humane Society of the United States has been working really hard to end hunting world wide and they have created a mass of opposition among conservation groups including but not limited to the WWF.  Most people do not know that the WWF supports hunting as a part of conservation for wildlife.

Thank god for our American Soldiers!

Senator Craig Comments on Fires in the West on the Senate Floor

Senator Craig has long been focused on the west and has long been focused on what is going on in our national forests.  He stands for Healthy Forests as a renewable resource and one that should be managed effectively.

His comments on his website about Healthy Forests:

Our forests are in poor shape generally, and failure to treat dead and dying trees now exponentially increases the risk of catastrophic wildfire and significantly slows the regeneration process in the future. Although some people have argued that salvaging dead and dying timber from burned areas is harmful to the environment, I believe that if it's done properly, salvage logging provides numerous benefits, including the restoration of watersheds, and the prevention of the spread of insect infestations and disease. Sick forests can be made healthy through good management and selective harvesting. Accordingly, I support forest health legislation that uses sound science and common sense to strike a balance between a call for action and maintaining the public's right to comment and challenge proposed actions in this area.

He recently has a lot to say on the Senate Floor about the state of our Forests and about the Upcoming Fire Season.
