New Jersey Appellate Court Invalidates State's Black Bear Management Policies
Washington, D.C. - Safari Club International and other sportsmen's groups continue to fight for bear hunting in New Jersey and its use as a management tool to help control the state's growing black bear population.
Today, the New Jersey appellate court issued a ruling that frustrated those efforts. The court determined that the state failed to adopt its comprehensive black bear management policies in accordance with state procedural requirements. The court's ruling today invalidated the 2005 policies, leaving the state with no Black Bear Management Policies in effect and without the ability to implement a 2007 black bear season.

NWTF's Contributions Recognized at Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation Event
To uphold hunting traditions, the NWTF and its 2,350 chapters have contributed $613,000 since 1994 to the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation (CSF) and the National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses (NASC), a fact that was recognized during a presentation at CSF's annual banquet Wednesday, Sept. 26 in Washington, D.C.
One way these dollars are put to work is to provide advice, support and information to the bipartisan members of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus. With nearly 300 U.S. Congress members, the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus is the largest caucus on Capitol Hill and an important ally for sportsmen and women.

A thank you for my Wonderful Antelope Trip
Thank you to BMOA for a great hunt and we look forward to next season!!!!!
A quick thank you needs to go out to Butch Manasse and his team(Bill and Wally) for assisting us in booking the great Antelope Hunt that we just went on: They are a great booking agency and have access to some great hunts and for this particular hunt, I did not have the time to do my own research and booked it through them. If any of you are thinking about going on an Antelope hunt for next year, please feel free to give Butch and his team a call. If you are interested in hunting with Dennis and I we have 4-5 slots available, please give me a call and then I will put you in direct contact with their team and you will be booking the hunt directly through them. This particular outfitter is fully booked each and every year and while I would of liked them to advertise on our site, they really have no need to do so. Either way, I was incredibly well taken care of by them and I look forward to next season where I will be with them again!
Thank you to BMOA for a great hunt and we look forward to next season!!!!!

Hunters and Anglers Have an Immense Impact on the Economy
Washington, DC, September 26, 2007 - A new report released by the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation demonstrates that by any measure, America's 34 million hunters and anglers are among the most prominent and influential of all demographic groups. Spending more than $76 billion a year on hunting and fishing, America's hunters and anglers would rank in the top 20 list on the Fortune 500. In fact their spending is greater than the revenues of high-tech giants Microsoft, Google, eBay and Yahoo - combined. These latest figures demonstrate that season after season hunters and anglers are an economic powerhouse, driving the economy from big businesses to rural towns, through booms and recessions. They directly support 1.6 million jobs, which is twice as many jobs as the combined civilian payrolls of the Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps.

Wyoming Antelope Trip - The Full Story
Several people have been after me to provide the full story on our Antelope Trip out west with Far Horizons Trophy Hunts outside Laramie, WY. We had an absolutely awesome hunt with Raymond and Troy Hall and our cameraman Zach Poff was a joy to work with in the field. We hunted unit 43 and i was blown away by the wide open terrain and the lack of trees. This is wide open country and absolutely beautiful country. We were hunting open cow pastures and on our trip we saw over 500 antelope in 4 days, what a trip.

Elkhorn Ranch Commemorated by National Conservation Leaders
Conservation’s Rough Rider Forged Unshakable Ethic in North Dakota’s Badlands
(September 15, 2007) Medora, North Dakota — The rugged badlands of western North Dakota – where Theodore Roosevelt came to heal from personal wounds and set his compass for future achievements – officially became a treasure to be preserved for all Americans at a commemoration ceremony today.
Today’s event, attended by conservation leaders from throughout the country and officials from the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service and US Fish and Wildlife Service, formally places into federal ownership the 5,200-acre Eberts Ranch. The dedication drew the leadership and supporters of conservation and historic preservation organizations from near and far including, the Boone and Crockett Club, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Badlands Conservation Alliance Mule Deer Foundation, Theodore Roosevelt Association and TR Medora Foundation. The acquisition preserves the view shed from Roosevelt’s Elkhorn Ranch, established on the banks of the Little Missouri River about 35 miles north of Medora in 1884.

Antelope Hunting
I am off to chase Antelope with Dennis! We are very excited to get out and make this trip and will be north of Laramie, WY. We are looking for some big Antelope and hopefully a day on the stream. I am really looking forward to spending some time with my good friend Dennis. He can still use your votes at "I am Wolverine " and you have the chance to win a $100.00.
This week has been an emotional week for me. With 9/11 memories and then preparing for this antelope trip has brought back memories of my last Antelope hunt with my father and brother in law. It has reminded me how very much that I miss my father and I miss being able to hunt with him. I am really looking forward to this hunt and I am looking forward to this trip and we will have a video crew that is going to be filming the hunt for us as well to share with all of you!
We will have some great posts for you while I am away and a ton of pictures and stories of this hunt when we get back. Hope you all have a great week and you enjoy the posts.

A comment on 9/11/01
On 9/11/01 I was living in Alexandria, VA waiting to move into a new house that was being built in Fredericksburg, VA where I live now. I was working at CliCKS Document Management where I still work today. We had this amazing team of people working with us in our location at 1424 K Street, NW and on that day we were slammed in litigation scanning and photocopying work. We had a full team and we were all in the office early that day to try and get the work done. Micala had called me on the phone and told me about a plane hitting the World Trade Tower and as she was on the phone with me, another plane had hit the second building. The radio was quickly turned up and the world began to go a bit crazy.

Budweiser Salutes 9/11 and New York
Here is a commercial Budweiser produced after 9/11. They aired it only once so as not to benefit financially from it - they just wanted to acknowledge the tragic event. This is so consistent with a company who always does things with a ton of class!! Can you imagine what the cost was considering . . .With the anniversary of this horrific event fast approaching, it's a good time to keep this circulating.
We will NEVER forget.

I learned after my first couple of hats broke down and lost their shape that you needed to buy a quality hat. A day at the Range!
Every September or August, I get the chance to head out to Warrenton, VA to the local Clark Brothers Gun Range. It is about an hour from the house and it is one of the last free ranges in Virginia to shoot your gun at. The range offers it all from Archery shooting to Shotguns, Pistols and Rifles. You can shoot semi automatic pistols and rifles and the ranges go from 15 yards all the way out to 100 yards. Perfect for sighting in your Rifle and getting in some practice before a good hunting trip.

I have to tell you all, I have been slacking off a bit from writing and sharing my passions and I promise I will work harder to keep up to date on the blog! The last month has been filled with tons of administrative and business issues in the background. Heck there is even one blogger out there that decided to just steal our work. Well through all of that Dennis has been out there working his butt off trying to get some new hunting tips from all of his friends and waiting patiently for the 13th of September to fly out with me to the great Wyoming Wilderness to chase pronghorn. Its going to be a great hunt and should be a ton of fun. In the mean time, we need your help. Log on to I am WOLVERINE and vote for Dennis and you could take home a quick $100.00 gift certificate and help Dennis to win some new boots. He deserves it!

Hemorrhagic disease outbreak being tracked by SCWDS and QDMA
IMPORTANT QDMA MEMBER ALERT
Hemorrhagic disease outbreak being tracked by
Southeastern cooperative wildlife disease study
The Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study (SCWDS) at the University of Georgia is currently tracking an outbreak of hemorrhagic disease in whitetails in the eastern United States that is associated with this year's widespread drought. The SCWDS manual states, "Hemorrhagic disease is by far the most important endemic infectious disease of white-tailed deer in the Southeast. The disease occurs annually, but its distribution and severity of occurrence are highly variable. Occurrence may involve only a very few scattered, mild cases or may appear as dramatic, highly visible outbreaks. Neither EHD nor blue tongue viruses are infectious for humans." Hemorrhagic disease is a common problem in late summer, but this year's outbreak appears to be severe.
