Browning X-Bolt Micro Midas Rifle Review

For anyone interested in a smaller, lighter-weight rifle with all the features of a full size, high quality one, look no further than the Browning X-Bolt Micro Midas. Whether you are built on a smaller frame or simply want to carry less weight on your hunt, the X-Bolt Micro provides a proper fit and impeccable performance.

Firearms designed for ladies and youth are nothing new. But while the intentions may have been good, the resulting design was often either a scaled-down version of the original or pared-down variant lacking the features demanded by serious hunters.

This is far from the case with Browning’s X-Bolt Micro Rifle. Although sized for smaller shooters, the X-Bolt Micro features the same satin finish walnut, matte blued steel, detachable rotary magazine, short throw bolt, and adjustable trigger found in Browning’s collection of full size X-Bolt rifles.

I have the 270 WSM and couldn’t be happier with the size and weight of this beautiful rifle.

All of Browning’s X-Bolt rifles are equipped with:

  • An adjustable three-lever Feather Trigger system.
  • A scope mounting system with four screws per base for optimal stability.
  • A short 60º bolt lift which allows you to work the bolt quickly without the scope getting in the way.
  • An ultra-soft recoil pad designed to reduce felt recoil and muzzle climb.

The only difference I notice between the X-Bolt Hunter and the X-Bolt Micro is how the Micro feels. It feels like it fits me. It feels like my rifle and not some over-sized Brobdingnagian weapon that I borrowed from someone twice my size with a much deeper voice.

Don’t get me wrong. As an adult-onset firearm owner, I truly appreciate the guidance I have received from the male shooters who have crossed my path. From the moment I nervously walked into a classroom full of men at the Firearm Safety Course until now, I have encountered nothing but genuine assistance, including the many offers to borrow firearms. I’ve since hunted successfully with full size rifles and muzzleloaders (right-handed, to boot, which is that much more difficult for this leftie).

But as any gun owner can attest, nothing beats the feel of your own firearm in your hands. It’s the “it just feels right” feeling that is the immeasurable feature of the Browning X-Bolt Micro.

So to my fellow hunters of the smaller stature, when you are ready to find your own rifle, the one that feels just right for you, consider the Browning X-Bolt Micro. For more information and to find a dealer near you, please check out Browning at www.browning.com.
