Searching for hunting gifts is not always the easiest task, so we thought we would help with this Last Minute Gift Guide for Hunters.  Hunting gifts do not need to be very complicated.  Listening to the hunter in your life can help you find the perfect hunting gift.  I leave little hints all year long like, “It sure would be nice if I had a decent pair of wool socks that didn’t have holes in them for duck season.”  Listening to those little hints will help you find the perfect hunting gifts.  If you have not recieved any hints from the hunter in your life, we are here to help you find the perfect hunting gifts.  This is our Last Minute Gift Guide for Hunters.  Also check out our 2016 Hunting Holiday Gift Guide.

SPOT Gen 3 Satellite Messenger

SPOT Satellite Messenger Generation 3

This summer Edward Gramza IV wrote a review of the SPOT Messenger Gen 3 and we liked it so much that we had to add it to our hunting gift guide.  It does not hurt that SPOT is offering a Half Off Holiday promotion offering the unit at half price through the holidays.  These units are best in class tracking devices for when you are off grid and even when you are on grid. The S.O.S. button allows you to hit that button and know that the cavalry is coming regardless of where you are in North America.  The tracking feature for us is the most important feature because our spouses know where we are to the exact spot when we are out hunting steep and deep country.  If they don’t hear from us, they can easily come find us even off the grid. Set it and forget it.  Pre-set your SPOT GEN3 to send tracks at the speed of your adventures. Change your tracks to send every 5, 10, 30, or 60 minutes.  This gives you piece of mind to go steep and deep.  Get one at FindMeSpot.com.

Leatherman Skeletool CX

Leatherman Skeletool CX

We absolutely love the functionality of the multi-tool and we have said before: the Leatherman brand builds the best in the industry.  When we are outdoors in the woods we gravitate to the Leatherman Signal, but just about anywhere else the first one we grab is the Skeletool CX.  It is small, lightweight and offers 7 tools which is about all we need for basic EDC (Every Day Carry) use.  More is not always better and having a lightweight tool in your pocket whether you are in a suit, jeans or out on the town, this is a tool you will love to own. Check out the Skeletool CX.

Tactical Candy Cane

Tactical Candy Canes

We love peppermint ice cream but peppermint candy canes are the worst.  They never get fully eaten, kids eat half of them, set them down on the carpet and they stick to the carpet.  They are fun and decorative but not for us.  We love these Tactical Candy Canes for adults.  They look great hanging on the tree and they are handy tools when re-shaped into a bracelet to be worn every day from the team at survival straps.  These are gifts that will stand the test of time for hunters, shooters and campers.  Who knows?  Someday that Tactical Candy Cane may just be the bracelet that helped someone get out of a very very tough situation.

National Parks Calendar

Anderson Design Group National Parks Calendar

We fell in love with these great posters from Anderson Design Group last year and this year the calendar really caught our eye.  We love our National Parks and with the 100 anniversary of the National Parks upon us, this is the perfect calendar.  Featuring more than enough space to write in events and Things to Do, the design, quality and feel of this calendar actually makes it a prized possession.  What’s more, the pages can later be framed and placed all over the house or office.  We used the postcards to announce to our friends all about our May wedding.  Check out some of the calendars, the great posters, prints, puzzles and one of our favorites the National Park book.  Anderson Design Group.

Stormy Kromer

The Stormy Kromer

The Stormy Kromer is an absolute legend. The company was started in 1903 by George and Ida Kromer and has now been in production for over 113 years.  The hats are a legend to those living in the North East and they are a legend among hunting guides throughout the nation.  I started wearing one of these after my first elk hunt.  It took me almost a year to find one and I now own 3 of them.  Currently, my #stormywish is the new Harris Tweed Cap in green.  I would be happy with a maybe 3-4 more of these caps hanging near my desk so anytime I was headed out to the field they would be ready no matter what I was wearing.  These caps are comfortable, offer exceptional fit and are as stylish as they come.  Even better, when it’s cold just pull the ear flaps down to keep your ears warm.  Buy one as a hunting gift and buy one for yourself because once you throw on one of these caps you start to realize why folks consider these hats a legend.  www.stormykromer.com

First Aid Kit - 12 Survivors

12 Survivors First Aid Rollup Kit

Every hunter should have a first aid kit in their truck, their pack and in their hunting cabin.  Giving a hunter one of these as a gift shows them that you care about their safety and that you want them to come home at the end of their adventure.  What I like about this particular hunting kit is that it is filled with some quality supplies and it has room to add more supplies.  I stock the kit the way I want a kit to be set up for my first aid kit and for my friends around me.  This kit comes complete and it rolls up well for packing at the bottom of my pack so I always know that it is ready in case I really need it.  12 Survivors has a Mini version that sits well inside your backpack while the big version is better for in the vehicle.  www.12survivors.com

Weston Smoker

Weston 36 inch Propane Smoker

We have been testing this smoker for about the last 9 months to our family’s and friends’ delight.  We have thrown cl0se to 40 meals through this smoker since we’ve had it.  That’s a heck of a lot of protein as well as a lot of bags of smoker chips all in the effort to test this unit as best as we could for our readers.  Honestly if you get this as a hunting gift for the meat eater in your family, expect to have a lot of smoked meats cooked for you.  This unit is fun and easy to work with, the starter is rock solid and it is overall very easy to keep the unit working and at temperature for long periods of time.  Remember low and slow for smoking and it’s going to take some serious hours to get it right but it is oh so fun throughout the entire process.  Weston Products makes a heck of a smoker and this is one of our favorites.  Check them out at Weston Products!

Revant Optics

Revant Optics

Just about every single hunter, fisherman/woman, and outdoorsman/outdoorswoman has two or three pairs of great sunglasses that we all spent really great money on only to have the lenses scratched and destroyed.  Revant Optics is the company to the rescue.  These guys build great lenses for existing frames with quality glass in a wide range of colors and features like polarization specifically for folks who enjoy the outdoors.  The great thing about this gift is that you know your recipient already loves his frames.  All you need to do is replace the lenses with high quality glass for less than $50.00.  It’s an absolute win.  Check out Revant Optics.

Men's Yellowknife Mitts

Duluth Trading Company – Men’s Yellowknife Mitts

Over the last 3 years, these gloves have been our saviors for cold weather hunting.  The mitts come with removable liners that work with smart phones.  The mitt format coupled with disposable heat packs are some of the best gloves for keeping warm on long days in extreme cold weather.  The trigger finger allows me to make quick shots.  These gloves come with just about every feature you would want including a soft cloth on the thumb to wipe your nose when it is dripping from the cold.  They are our go-to mitts once the temps drop below 30 degrees.  Duluth Trading has a ton of great products and they offer a ton of holiday promotions. Duluth’s products are well worth checking into and these gloves are fantastic. While you’re checking out the mitts, look at the buck naked underwear – they are exceptional as are the free swinging flannel.  All make great gifts for hunters.  We love, love, love these gloves and we know your hunter will be thrilled to receive them this Christmas.  Duluth Trading Company

Innova Twist II

Innova Kayak Twist I and Twist II Inflatable Kayaks

We have been waiting to test this inflatable kayak out here in Nebraska for duck hunting season. The Twist II has been sitting here in my office for about 2 months waiting on the right moment to get it out and do a float hunt for ducks. Between last week and today writing this we have almost a full ice up on the local lakes and ponds, but we hope to find a way to get this boat in the water this season as soon as possible.  So far we are impressed with the weight and the ability to backpack this unit in to just about any location.  With a total weight of 25 lbs for the Twist II this boat can be carried in, set up and drifted into the right cove for a duck hunt.  The two person kayak has enough room for decoys and a shotgun and costs less than $550.00.  Check out all of the great inflatable kayaks Innova offers.  Wrapped up in a big box they will never suspect you got them an inflatable kayak.  Innova Kayak

Sitka Gear Jacket

Sitka Gear Fahrenheit Jacket

This jacket is quickly becoming one of our favorites for both waterfowling and our late season prairie hunting.  Something about the brown in this jacket helps us blend into the high tall prairie grass.  This jacket is windproof and insulating and works well as a mid layer jacket.  With mapping for moisture management with Primaloft® down blend from elbow to elbow and fully synthetic Primaloft® through the forearms.  Even though Sitka Gear is a sponsor, we would buy this jacket anyway because it is warm, it breathes, it’s windproof, it’s comfortable and it keeps you hidden in the field which is pretty simple logic to our team.  Sitka Gear Fahrenheit Jacket.

Otis Technology Gun Cleaning

Otis Technology Wingshooter Cleaning System

Otis Technology offers some of the best breach to muzzle cleaning systems on the market and this kit is specifically tailored to waterfowl and wingshooters.  The Wingshooter Cleaning System is specifically tailored for shotguns in 12 gauge, 20 gauge and 28 gauge.  The kit comes with everything you need in one handy package that easily slips into your pack or blind bag so it is always with you.  This makes a great hunting gift for the hunter who is obsessed with wingshooting.  Check out the Otis Technology Wingshooter Cleaning System.

Nexbelt

Nexbelt Defender Concealed Carry Gun Belt

I have worn the Nexbelts for the last several years.  I find the ratcheting PresciseFit system to be fantastic and hands and feet above all other belts that I have tested in the past specifically because of the 1/4″ quick adjustments that I can do all day long.  The Defender concealed carry gun belt works well in the field and out for an evening on the town and the belt has the stiffness required for concealing and holstering your sidearm.  The 1/4″ adjustment is what this belt is all about and it is without question exceptional for concealed carry and as an every day belt.  As a hunting gift it may seem like it’s only a belt but once someone puts this belt on and gets it adjusted, they will quickly see what all the fuss is about.  Check them out at Nexbelt.com.

Mathews Halon

Mathews Halon

We have been shooting this bow for about 9 months now and we honestly will not be making any bow changes for 2017.  This is the bow that right now I want to be shooting.  It is aggressive, smooth, quiet and FAST.  It’s honestly everything I have been wanting in a bow for the last 10 years.  With the Custom Bow Equipment TEK-Hybrid Pro Series Hunter Sight and a Scott Archery Release this bow has turned into one of the most accurate bows that I have ever shot.  As a hunting gift this bow is what your archery hunter dreams about.  Get down to your local archery shop pick up a gift certificate and watch their eyes glaze over when they open this present.  Check them out at Mathewsinc.com.

Conservation

Hunting Conservation Membership

One of my favorite gifts every single year is a membership to Ruffed Grouse Society.  I have received a gift membership in the mail each year and I am ever so grateful because every few months a copy of the Ruffed Grouse Society magazine comes to my mailbox.  I then spend the next two days devouring every single word in this magazine.  Our hunting conservation organizations are always hungry for new members.  This Christmas may we suggest you support them and give the hunting gift that can and will be cherished throughout the year.  Each organization produces a great magazine filled with stories of hunting, conservation, articles, gear and tips.

Check out the following organizations:

Ducks Unlimited

Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation

National Wild Turkey Foundation

Ruffed Grouse Society

Mule Deer Foundation

Pheasants Forever

Quail Forever

Trout Unlimited

Safari Club International

National Rifle Association

I know we did not get every single organization so please add them to our comments for all of our readers to enjoy!!
