Klymit Insulated Static V Gear Review
I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about sleeping pads until I actually go camping and even then it is mostly an afterthought until the morning when I wake up stiff. The team at Klymit thinks about sleeping pads every single day. With the Klymit Insulated Static V they have built a sleeping pad that is exceptional.
My night sleeping on the Klymit V Insulated camping pad was warm. I got a very solid night of sleep on a cushion of air that was much loftier than camping pads I have used in the past. I love a good camping trip but I usually do not sleep well and this trip was an exception.
The push valve on the Klymit Static V allows me to blow up the pad quickly – it takes a reported 10-15 breaths to inflate. I did not count my breaths while inflating this pad but it didn’t take long. We tested out another pad as well and I preferred the Static V over the flat pad that we also own. The V-chamber design offers more cushion on pressure points like shoulder blades and hips, limits air movement in the pad, and minimizes heat loss.
My favorite thing about the Static V was how easy it was to deflate, roll up and put back into the carrying case that came with the pad. I have spent the better part of cold mornings cursing sleeping pads and sleeping bags because I had to fight them to get them rolled up and put away. The Klymit Insulated Static V was a breeze to deflate, quarter fold lengthwise and roll up and slide into the stuff sack.
