Muck Boot Pursuit Shadow Tall Review

There is no question that Team HuntingLife is pretty secure in our love for Muck Boots. We love them so much we asked them to sponsor us and they do. Just about every hunt we’ve done in the last three years have been in Muck Boots. So sitting down at SHOT Show this year we were pretty excited to try on the Pursuit Shadow Tall boot. This is the first lace-up boot in the Muck Boot line specifically made for hunting and it is a dream boot.

We started using these boots about five weeks ago during Nebraska’s archery season. In the early season, we put on lots of miles in an effort to learn trails, scrapes and beds on the new properties and public lands we hunt. The Pursuit Shadow Tall boots by Muck Boots rank as one of the lightest we have used in the field. In addition, they provide the security in knowing that we can lace these boots tight. One of the main properties we noticed was the quietness of the boots as we walked – they were quiet because they were light and so well attached to our feet. Your foot will not slip around at all because you can lace them to just about any configuration that you want, tight where you need it and loose where you want it. Personally, I want these boots as tight as I can get them on my feet and well up into my calf. The fit on these allow me to tuck in my pant legs which helps keep burrs and bugs out of my socks and feet.

The weather in the early season can be anything from wet and muddy to hot and dry. You never know what you’ll experience in terms of weather. With the Pursuit Shadow Tall’s range of -20 degrees to 50 degrees, we found them to be just about perfect. I found them comfortable even in temps close to 75 degrees. I look forward to testing them in the cold winter weather yet to come, but I trust with the warm fleece lining and some wool socks I will be just fine.

The Pursuit Shadow Tall boots are designed with an Inscentable Scent-masking barrier and an Agion antimicrobial treatment. I walked some trails on the way to my tree stand and two does came down the same trail within a half hour of me being on it.

I have only two cons on these boots. First, the cloth on the boots picks up burrs. The burrs in Nebraska are small and the laces and the cloth on the boots picks them up. Thankfully the cloth is extremely tough and the burrs just wipe off. I hit the laces with a Burr Paw when I come out of the woods and they are ready for my next hunt. My second complaint is that the laces are extremely long and I don’t know why. To overcome this, I simply double tie them and slide the laces into my boots to keep them from dangling and catching on everything.

Overall I find the Pursuit Shadow Tall Muck Boot to be an exceptionally well-made product. Muck Boots have taken everything we have thrown at them including walking down the middle of a stream without question. These are premium lightweight hunting boots. They provide the fit, comfort and quality that we have all come to expect from Muck Boot Company. I feel as comfortable stalking, walking, running or sitting on stand with these boots as I am ever going to feel. We suggest you run out pick up a pair as soon as you can. Your feet will thank you!!

  1. Very good pair of boots especially for those hunting near swampy areas. Will definitely check this out for my next hunting trip.
