Outdoor Gear Reviews

Organize Your Gear with Tepui

I recently attended a fall campout with my son and his Cub Scout Pack. Like every time we go camping, I attempt to pack the bare necessities. But no matter how hard I try, the back of my SUV is jam-packed. This time, however, I was much more organized thanks to a gear container and a tool case by Tepui Tents.

Based out of Santa Cruz, California, Tepui Tents is an outdoor gear company that specializes in rooftop camping tents. They also produce camping accessories and gear designed to make your camping adventures that much more successful.

When packing for this latest Cub Scout campout, I separated our gear into two categories. In one big heap, I piled up sleeping bags, sleeping pads, camp pillows, ground mat, and our clothes. In another smaller container, I placed a mallet, my Jetboil, a first aid kit, whistles, a lighter, and a couple of headlamps.

It is water resistant, easy to clean and moves around easily thanks to roller bag wheels. This is the perfect container for storing the camping gear in the car. Once at the campsite, the large zipper tabs at the top of this soft-sided container made it easy to open all the way. I was able to see where everything was at a glance. The Velcro, removable and adjustable “walls” within the container hold the sides and top up and allow me to further organize items within: sleeping bags in one place, pads in another, pillows and clothes in another.

Our campsite gear was stored in the Tepui Expedition Series Tool Case, a much smaller bag that measures 17” x 10” x 7”. The multiple compartments in various sizes within this case make it ideal to store smaller items that you feel might get lost in a large container. I placed a mallet and some spare stakes in one zippered compartment. I placed the first aid kit and smaller items like emergency whistles, headlamps, and a lighter in a separate location. My Jetboil system fit perfectly in this case, as well.

Besides my tent and some camping chairs, these two containers were all I placed in the back of my car. I have never felt so organized heading out for a weekend camping trip.

Packing up to return home was just easy. What sometimes ends up with us throwing everything into the back of the car and driving off became a neat, organized, and easy-to-load exercise.img_0011

The Tepui Expedition Series containers are soft sided, made from high strength polyester canvas. This means they are water and abrasion resistant but they are not waterproof and they are not indestructible. The Expedition Series containers are perfect for your car camping trips. The containers offer immense storage, flexible and compartmented sections, and ease of transport from home to car to campsite and back.

You can find out more about these containers, other accessories, and Tepui’s tents by visiting www.tepuitents.com. Retail on the large container is $190 and for the tool case is $70.
