Great quality clothing continues to gain traction in the outdoor and hunting markets. SCOTTeVEST has long been known for bringing technologically advanced vests, jackets and clothing to market. Several years ago they asked me to review one of their jackets and I passed on the opportunity. I really could not see how I would use it as an outdoorsman until this year. They have created the SeV Sportsman Vest specifically for outdoorsmen. I jumped at the chance to test it out and they sent out a sample to us.
The SeV Sportsman Vest has 24 pockets and is specifically designed for those in the outdoors. The vest is made of 100% ringspun cotton that is Teflon treated for stain and water resistance. What I like most about this vest is that it is quiet and quilted specifically to keep you warm and in the field longer. The side-access handwarmer pockets are nice to have and my compact binoculars fit in these pockets pretty easily. Twenty-four pockets provide the flexibility to carry just about everything from your iPad or tablet to your phone and all sorts of hunting gear.
With the SeV Sportsman Vest, I can transition from the field to the office without having to change clothes. This jacket even has an RFID wallet pocket to protect your credit cards from skimmers and RFID readers. The large rear pocket can hold birds and sheds as well as a water bladder. The Sportsman Vest also provides hidden visibility strips in hunter or safety orange that can be unfurled to provide extra safety in the field.
The SeV Sportsman Vest is designed for the sportsman rather than the hunter specifically. I hope to see a version 2.0 of the SeV Sportsman Vest with features that will increase the amount of visible orange so I can use it as a hunting vest. Of course, each state is different in regards to requirements of hunter orange while hunting so check the laws in your state. I will be looking out for a version of this vest that offers a significant amount of orange so I can wear it in just about every state in which I hunt upland game. In the mean time, I am happy with the quality of the SeV Sportsman Vest.
This vest comes with a chamois cloth to clean glasses and optics, which is great, but even better is the layout of the jacket’s twenty-four pockets is printed on the chamois cloth. This shows where each pocket is and what each pockets is designed for.
