Vanguard Endeavor ED II Binoculars Review

For quite some time people have been asking me about binoculars and why I use Vanguard as my go to optics in the field. I beat the heck out of my optics for about 90 days a year. I need work horse optics that go where I need to go. Whether it is raining, snowing, muddy, hot, dry or a blue-sky perfect day, I need my optics to work. The Vanguard ED II binoculars are the optics that work for me and they sell at a price point I can afford. I don’t worry whether they are muddy, wet, or covered in snow or dust. They are ready for me to use and help me find success in the field.

The Vanguard Endeavor ED II binoculars are phase-corrected roof prism binoculars with extra-low dispersion (ED) glass and anti-reflection fully multicoated optics.   The edge-to-edge clarity enhances light transmission, allowing the Endeavor ED II optics to be valuable in low light situations. These binoculars are tripod mountable with the optional BA-185 adaptor. I find they work extremely well with the VEO 235AP tripod. The binocular/tripod setup along with a quality spotting scope is my go to spotting package for Nebraska mule deer where I am trying to cover large swaths of canyons looking for big bucks.

The open-bridge design reduces weight and provides a strong platform with a large surface area to hold. The pebbled rubber armoring is warm to the touch and provides the space necessary to operate these binoculars with bare hands or thick winter gloves. The 10x magnification is enough for average daily use and spotting. I would love to see Vanguard produce a 12x model in the Endeavor line. I noticed that the rubber on the eyecups sometimes comes loose. I wish Vanguard would glue the rubber on internally (as I have done with rubber cement) to keep them on the binoculars. Vanguard offers an extensive lifetime warranty on its products and believes in the quality of the products they produce.

Some binoculars I’ve owned have cost more than my first car. While they were impressive tools to use in the field, I was always afraid I would scratch them or break them while hunting hard. I knew I couldn’t afford to replace them. The Vanguard Endeavor ED IIs are the working man’s optics with a fair price and high quality features. Check them out at your local retailer and put them to test in the field.
