28 Organizations Recognized for Outstanding Service, Support to Military-Connected Children in Communities Around the World

HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas – The Military Child Education Coalition® (MCEC®) announced today the recipients of the 2020 Lt. Gen. (Retired) H.G. “Pete” Taylor Partnership of Excellence Award™ during the Coalition’s virtual Education Summit.

The annual award, now in its 16th year, encourages and reflects the outstanding partnerships formed between military installations and school districts that serve military- and veteran-connected children.  Each year, winning partnerships are selected from schools and military instillations around the world who celebrate the military child in exceptional and sustainable ways. 

“The recipients of this year’s “Pete” Taylor Partnership of Excellence Award are truly an inspiration,” said MCEC President and CEO Dr. Becky Porter. “These leaders have fostered relationships that have enriched the lives of military- and veteran-connected children around the world and reflect the very best of who we all should aspire to be within our communities.”

The 2020 Lt. Gen. (Retired) H.G. “Pete” Taylor Partnership of Excellence Award winners are:

Community Partnership K-12 category

2020 Outstanding Partnership Award:  Maxwell-River Region Partnership for Educational Excellence Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base, Autauga County Schools, Elmore County Public Schools, Montgomery Public Schools, Pike Roads Schools, Department of Defense Education Activity, Montgomery Chamber of Commerce, Alabama Military Stability Foundation, MGMWERX,
and Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission – Alabama

2020 Exemplary Partnership Award:  Department of Defense Education Activity & Suffolk Archives “I Have Three Homes – Life as an American Military Child in Suffolk” –  DoDEA West Lakenheath Complex Schools, Suffolk County Council Archives, Royal Air Force Lakenheath, and Performance & Pen – England

2020 Recognized Partnership Award: Innovating Academic Excellence through Partnership –

Created in 2004, the Lt. Gen. (Retired) H.G. “Pete” Taylor Partnership of Excellence Award recognizes the work of former MCEC Chairman Lt. Gen. (Retired) H.G. “Pete” Taylor in assisting military children.  The award encourages the sharing of lessons learned and recognizes the long-held belief of Lt. Gen. Taylor that “goodness starts at the local level.”
