The Ultra-Light Tarp Shelter is the ideal solution for minimalist backpackers looking to shave weight from their packs and simplify camp setup. This 6-point catenary cut tarp measures 12′ 6″ x 9′ 8″ and weighs only 15 oz. Constructed of 20D 380T ripstop nylon with a 3000mm silicone/PU coating, the Ultra-Light Tarp Shelter is wind-stable and is sized to easily accommodate two people and gear in lieu of a tent, and is an ideal emergency shelter for day hiking. Fully taped seams, 6″ aluminum tri-stakes, and reflective guy lines provide secure, multiple pitching options.
For conventional tent camping or backpacking, ALPS Mountaineering’s new Utility Tarp fits the bill. With 16 reinforced guy-out points and 9′ 8″ x 9′ 8″ dimensions, this tarp can be configured for gear storage or as a no-fuss bivouac shelter. The 68D 210T polyester ripstop features 1500mm PU coating to resist UV damage and the light color permits light transmission for better dusk/dawn visibility.
Both the Ultra-Light Tarp Shelter and the Utility Tarp work well with the ALPS Mountaineering Adjustable Tarp Pole. This 5-section, 6000 series aluminum pole is pushbutton adjustable for multiple height configurations and includes a convenient drawstring carry bag.
