Regnery Publishing, Inc sent me a copy of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Hunting about 30 days ago and asked me to review it online for all of you. This particular copy is going to be donated to a local chapter of the RMEF to use in one of the many silent auction packages they have at their local banquet.
The book was written by Frank Miniter who was a senior editor at Outdoor Life and is currently the executive editor of American Hunter magazine. He has hunted on five continents and has won numerous awards for conservation and outdoor writing.
This book is one of the books that I would use if I ran Hunter Education Courses. It is the beginners guide to why hunters hunt and how hunting is benefiting the entire country. This book makes some great arguments in favor of hunting and begins to show you what hunters have done to protect our land, our habitat and how we manage the species that are out there.
This book was created to provide the ammunition to create generic dialog and open debate between non-hunters and hunters. Having spent the better part of the last 7 years teaching people about conservation, the Roberts-Pittman Act, Deer Management, Environmental Issues that effect hunting, species management, habitat protection this book is a step below what I would of liked to have seen, but it is not geared for people like me. This book is written to provide you the hunter with the ammunition you need to actively debate the very real issues of why hunting should be protected and why it should be supported by the mass media and mass society.
I recommend that each and every one of you go out and buy a copy and Amazon.com has a special on this book, so I will include it here at the best price I have seen on the market. I hope you will read this book and distribute it to hunters that you know as well as to non hunters. Frank Miniter should be proud and I hope he continues to fight the good fight for all hunters in this nation and across the world.
