Hunt Zone Signs

I recently received a batch of signs from Bob Pavoncello of Hunt Zone Signs for review and comment. I say well done! I will include a quote from their excellent web site www.huntzonesigns.com. “Hunt Zone Signs is a safety concept designed to make others sharing the woods aware that you’re in the area and help prevent hunting accidents from happening. With camouflage patterns and decoys looking more real than ever before, it is extremely important to be alert and cautious in the woods. Safety is key in hunting!”

I love the idea from both a safety and a success standpoint. The signs are small, light weight, and durable. They easily hang with a tack or light cord looped over a branch. The safety is obvious especially when turkey hunting. I also think of how many times another hunter or hiker has approached my tree stand accidently, sometimes blowing deer out. This can help decrease unwanted blunders into your hunt zone; potentially increasing your odds for success. There are 6 different warnings, so you can pick the one the best suits your situation. I am looking forward to hanging a sign during archery season. In Westchester, NY they have wisely opened the public parks to archery deer hunting. These signs should be mandatory as these same woods are shared by non-hunting hikers.

All in I think it is a great idea even on private land. I hunt a large tract of private land that usually has about 10 regulars hunting opening weekend. Last year I didn’t get there until the afternoon due to commitments. I had to pick a stand and hope nobody else was there since nobody thought to leave a list of who was where, thinking I wasn’t arriving until after dark. If we had these sign, a late comer like me would know what stands to avoid and not chance ruining someone else’s hunt.
