ArmourLite Caliber Series Watch Review

ArmourLite Caliber WatchWe had the opportunity to test out the ArmourLite Caliber Series AL602 watch over the last 2 months.  I chose this watch to test out because I was looking for a high quality watch I could count on while being in the backcountry on our hunts.  Over the past several few years, I have not worn a watch on a regular basis. My phone is constantly with me.  On a recent weekend getaway, my phone died and I realized I had no way to tell time. So I began searching for a watch.

I spotted the ArmourLite watches at SHOT show this year. I was impressed with the variety of watches ArmourLite offered, as well as the scratch-resistant, shatterproof crystal on these watches and their ability to handle up to 200 meters of water resistance.  They also look pretty darn awesome which is pretty darn important.

All ArmourLite watches contain tritium illumination which allow them to be visible in the darkest conditions.  The hands and number markers feature small, self-luminous, hermetically sealed tritium-filled vials covered with zinc sulfide.  The electrons within the tritium continuously react with zinc sulfide, which in turn converts electrical energy into light. This is the process that allows you to see these watches and tell time in the dark.  A great thing about tritium: it requires no batteries and remains constantly illuminated for over 20 years.  Now if I can maintain the ability to keep a watch around without losing it for 20 years, I will feel pretty accomplished.

Besides being scratch-resistant, waterproof and tough as nails, ArmourLite watches are built with Swiss Ronda 515 Quarts movement.  The batteries should last 45 months and the watch carries a 2-year warranty.  The uni-directional rotating bezel with a tritium marker is ideal for keeping elapsed time. For the avid diver or outdoorsman, the ArmourLite Caliber Series offer 200 meters of water resistance.

The watch I chose has a black and hunter orange nylon band. I like watches that look good but not pretentious.  This watch just looks tough and tactical. It has the kind of built-in toughness that I am looking for.  I know that it can be beat to heck on my elk hunts in the high country, stay on my wrist for duck hunts on the Platte River and still look good enough for date night.

ArmourLite builds these watches with all of this for the kind of prices a workingman can afford. What’s not to love!!!
