Gold Tip, Bee Stinger Archers Tim Gillingham and Calvin Gross Take Top Honors at ASA Foley
Gold Tip, an industry leader in carbon arrows and bolts, along with Bee Stinger, maker of the most advanced line of stabilizers and side bars for bowhunting and target archery, congratulate team members for their performance at the ASA Hoyt/Easton Pro/Am, which took place in Foley, Alabama. Team archers secured four top place finishes, including division wins by pro staffers Calvin Gross and Tim Gillingham.
In the Known Pro division, Gold Tip and Bee Stinger pro staffer Calvin Gross took first place shooting 18 out of 20 twelve rings on Saturday to vault to a six-point lead in the toughest class in archery. He ended with a total tournament score of 514. “Calvin has been on staff with Gold Tip since he was a very young archer,” said Tim Gillingham, pro staff manager for Team Gold Tip and Bee Stinger. “We are very proud to see him win his first event as a pro.”
New teammate Michael Hulbert took second place in the Known Pro division, and four of the five shooters in the Known Pro shoot-off were Gold Tip/Bee Stinger shooters.
In the Senior Pro division, Gillingham took first place with a total score of 424. Gillingham, already off to a great year with a win in Indoor, led the field all weekend and never looked back throughout the shoot-off, which culminated with a 14-ring on the final shot. Teammate Joe Pitt also landed on the podium with his third-place finish.
ASA Foley is one of several ASA Pro/Am Tour qualifying events around the country, culminating with a championship to crown the Shooter of the Year awards and ASA Classic champions. ASA Pro/Am Tour competitions are some of the most well-attended archery events in the U.S.
