MidwayUSA Foundation is the Leading Advocate for Youth Shooting Sports

Columbia, MO – August is National Shooting Sports Month and MidwayUSA Foundation is proud to celebrate the month with continued opportunities to support youth shooting programs.  As the leading advocate for youth shooting sports, MidwayUSA Foundation has over $400 million endowed to ensure generation after generation has the funding to participate.  The endowment model guarantees the money is available in perpetuity.

Nearly 2,800 youth shooting teams rely on MidwayUSA Foundation funding to conduct practices, travel to competitions, pay for ammo, and cover other critical expenses that youth shooting teams incur.  In addition to youth shooting teams, the Foundation assists over 80 organizations at the state, regional, and national levels.  Organizations including the Scholastic Clay Target Program, Scholastic Action Shooting Program, USA Shooting, ACUI Clay Targets, and more rely on annual funding from MidwayUSA Foundation.  The non-profit public charity has provided $72.5 million in grants to support youth shooting sports.  In 2024, alone, the Foundation has paid just under $8 million in cash grants and is set to provide another $3.3 million in the coming weeks.

“We are the only youth shooting sports endowment program in the nation.  As most schools provide little or no funding for youth shooting sports teams, we serve a critical mission to support those underfunded school and community teams,” said G. Scott Reynolds, MidwayUSA Foundation Executive Director.  He added, “We are proud that we not only provide short-term and long-term financial support, but we recognize that our youth shooting sports athletes also need qualified coaches and safe ranges, so we provide special-purpose Coach Training and Range Development grants to fill those needs, as well.  We provided over $2.5 million in grants this year to train qualified coaches and expand and improve ranges.  There is no stronger advocate for youth shooting sports than MidwayUSA Foundation.”

Youth shooting programs can receive tax-deductible donations directly to their team through the MidwayUSA Foundation website.  Thanks to the vision and generosity of founders Larry and Brenda Potterfield, every donation is matched, doubling the impact of your dollar. In addition to general donations to your favorite youth shooting program, MidwayUSA Foundation hosts online auctions on GunBroker.com.  Winning bids, plus an additional $2,500 in endowment dollars, benefit the youth shooting team or organization of the bidder’s choice.  Plus, that winning bid is matched.   To celebrate National Shooting Sports Month, there will be a new auction every week in August.  https://www.midwayusafoundation.org/online-auctions/

“Now more than ever, young people need youth programs like the Mid Carolina Youth Shooting Team and the other youth shooting programs across the country.  The grant we receive every year from MidwayUSA Foundation helps our team offset expenses and the matching program helps motivate others to support these vital programs,” said Bernie Till, Mid Carolina Youth Shooting Team Head Coach.  This South Carolina youth shooting team has received over $128,000 in cash grants.

MidwayUSA Foundation also hosts in-person events that are fundraisers for youth shooting programs.  Day of Clays events are sporting clays tournaments held around the country and registrations benefit the endowment of the attendee’s choice and are also matched.  Register now for September events.  https://www.midwayusafoundation.org/events/
