myCharge Portable Power Bank Charger Review

Portable chargers are a necessity in today’s world of electronic devices and high quality ultra-fast chargers.  myCharge offers a wealth of chargers that are designed to withstand extreme outdoor conditions and provide the quality that outdoor consumers are looking for in today’s market.

We had the opportunity to test two different models from myCharge over the past several months, and both of them are tools that we now use on an almost daily basis.

myCharge AdventureMega-C Portable Charger

myCharge AdventureMega-C Portable Charger with 20100mAh rugged Powerbank is the unit that we have had in our hands over the past seven months.  This charger is a slightly heavy and solid unit, but the amount of power in the unit more than makes up for the weight.  The charger offers USB-C Quick Charge = Power Deliver at 18W and a USB-A Quick Charge at 18W. This means that with today’s phones you can charge your device quickly to full charge, and you have enough juice to charge the average iPhone or Samsung Galaxy for a total of six days.  This is the charger you want to throw in your pack for a three-day adventure and not have to be concerned whether you have enough battery to get through the trip.

We have tested this unit on several trips, and we have yet to completely burn it out on a single trip.  The unit is splash-proof, drop-resistant and dirt-proof which means that you can do just about anything with the exception of dunking it under water.  The unit has a built in caribiner, though we found it to more of a fashion accessory than a truly useful part of the device.  The adventure Mega-C is a brick at 1.06 lbs.  Currently at Amazon, it is on a super sale price below $40.00.  This is quite a bit less than the standard AdventureMega which is currently running close to $70.00.

myCharge Adventure Camping Lantern Power Bank

We got this in for testing about two0 months ago.  I have only used it for camping one day, but we have used it almost every day in the house and while we are filming.  The light options on this unit offer four levels of brightness in two distinct color zones as well as an SOS option.  The unit offers 10000 mAh of power and two USB ports.  This allows us to charge our phone in camp, use it as a light, and most importantly use it around the house for just about everything you would use a traditional flashlight for.

We use this light as an LED light for filming our videos.  We can change the light set up to use this as a direct fill light, and we can use different temperatures to enhance the quality of our filming for all of our segments.  We have not yet had the opportunity to test this out with photography subjects at night, but I have no doubt as to the effectiveness.  Many of our camping situations now have devices and USB gadgets, and it is great to know that we have something that can work for quick charges should we need them.  For us, the myCharge Adventure Camping Lantern is first and foremost a lantern.  Secondly, it is very much a rechargeable power bank.  I know we are looking for a few more of these over the next couple of months to add to our filming set up, and these will most definitely be in some Christmas stockings come the holidays.

You can, of course, buy these at Amazon, or you can find them in big box retailers across the country like Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy and INMOTION.
