On receipt of the pants, the first thing I did was wash, dry, and try them on. Right away, I realized was that these pants were both well fitting and extremely comfortable. I took the black Taclite Pro Pants out into the yard and proceeded to spend the next few hours raking up leaves. The job was dirty and it was warm outside and these pants did a pretty great job of holding up well. While they got dirty, it was easy to brush off the dirt and go about my business. After coming in, I loaded up the pockets with my SOG Knives, cell phone, wallet, keys and such and headed out in the truck for a quick scouting trip.
Things I noticed while wearing these two pairs of pants over the last two weeks: the wallet sits really low in the back pocket on these pants and I had to transfer it to the side pocket on my leg. Carrying my wallet on my side actually works quite well for me as it is more secure and I do not sit on it.
Both pairs of pants have slightly different pocket line ups with the Taclite having the best configuration. Both pairs of pants are extremely comfortable and provide great room for movement. The Taclite Pro pants are a little easier to keep clean because they are coated in a Teflon fabric Protector to repel water and stains. These might be the better pants for hunting in inclement weather or in snow. Hunting in these pants, both pairs did a pretty great job of staying burr-free and provide the kind of functionality to carry the gear I need close at hand. I also like that these pants accept the 5.11 kneepads and are perfect for stalking. My only complaint is that I can get these in a wider variety of camouflage.

Of course 5.11 Tactical gear has been growing in popularity among federal officers, police teams, SWAT teams, and others for years. As we carry more gadgets around on a daily basis, these kinds of pants make it easier to carry gear and provide the functionality we demand. What we haven’t seen in the hunting market are tactical pants like this in various camouflage patterns and quiet fabric but I suspect the guys at 5.11 are seriously thinking about it.
The team at RangeMasterTacticalGear.com is exceptional to work with. They have a strong customer service commitment and a wide variety of tactical and range gear. I have spent some hours on their site and I still haven’t seen all of the gear they carry yet. Go check these guys out, pick up a pair of these pants, and test them out for yourself. I know you’re going to like them.
