The International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI) is an independent, non-profit membership organization formed in 1981 by a group of dedicated law enforcement professionals. The Master Instructor Development Program (MIDP) is a three-day course designed to continue education for individuals already certified as firearm instructors for handgun, rifle and shotgun. The course will include more advanced hands-on skill progress, with emphasis on practical marksmanship and operational proficiencies. The info discussed in the MIDP will be particularly useful in creating a positive training experience that will result in greater officer safety.
Topics to be covered will include:

- review of shooting fundamentals/positions
- operational skills
- basic tactics such as movement, use of cover, light management, etc.
- shooter remediation
- adult learning concepts
- coaching strategies
- course design
Registration for the MIDP will end Oct. 20, 2021. Cost of the course is $450 for IALEFI members and $505 for non-members (which includes a one-year membership upon completion and approval of an application).

The curriculum is designed to prepare individuals to conduct safe, effective, reality bases and agency-related firearm training on shooting techniques, training methods and tactical philosophies. The course will utilize both classroom instruction and practical exercises on the range, allowing students to build their own agency programs.
