Conservation Partners Help Further RMEF’s Mission
MISSOULA, Mont.— The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation salutes its Access Elk Country Initiative and Elk Country Legacy partners for providing critical conservation funding to its mission.
“There is great power in partnerships. And these partners are not only respected national leaders in the outdoor industry but they strongly support elk, elk habitat, conservation, hunting and the RMEF. We are extremely grateful for their contributions,” said Steve Decker, RMEF vice president of Marketing.
RMEF’s Elk Country Legacy program reflects all aspects of RMEF’s mission of ensuring the future of elk, other wildlife, their habitat and our hunting heritage. Sponsors include Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s, Browning, Mossy Oak, Remington and Winchester.
The Access Elk Country Initiative focuses on opening and improving public access to elk country while also seeking solutions to local access challenges as a benefit for elk management, hunting, fishing and other forms of recreation. Since 1984, RMEF opened or improved access to more than 1.2 million acres of land. Access Elk Country sponsors include ALPS OutdoorZ, Bushnell, Gerber, Kimber, Sitka, Sportsman’s Guide, Yamaha and YETI.

California – 2,600 acres conserved
Colorado – 1,492 acres protected
Montana – access improved to 26,000 acres
New Mexico – 12,000th nationwide conservation project completed
Washington – 4,486 acres protected, opened to public access
Wisconsin – 290 acres protected, opened to public access
Wyoming – 133 acres protected
Various – $1 million exceeded in 2019 elk research
