The results of the Ballistic Magazine’s annual Ballistic’s Best Awards are in, and the TS 2 pistol from CZ-USA has been named as the best Full-Size Semi-Automatic Handgun of the year.
The awards cover a broad spectrum of firearms in the magazine’s Best Guns of the Year issue, which tests and ranks over 100 handguns, rifles, and shotguns every year, setting the best apart from the rest.

The Ballistic’s Best winners are chosen in an unbiased method with category rankings determined by testing teams based on a nine-point criteria system that includes aesthetics, ergonomics, sights, trigger control, recoil control, reloading ease, accuracy, reliability and value/price. The magazine only uses the final tallies on the score sheets to crown the winners in each category. Objectivity is paramount for Ballistic, and its parent company, Athlon Outdoors.

The TS 2 beat out several state-of-the-art handguns in its category, including the Canik METE SFX, Walther PDP Full Size 4.5, HK VP9L OR, Zev Technologies OZ9 Combat, Rock Island Armory STK100, SAR K12 Sport, FN 509 LS Edge, Sig Sauer P320 Max, and the Beretta 92X RDO.
The TS 2 was designed and built for competition shooters in the tradition of the company’s highly successful Shadow 2, mimicking its slide profile with the reciprocating weight positioned as low as possible for smoother operation, less muzzle flip and faster follow-up shots. Additionally, the TS 2’s redesigned frame and improved ergonomics also reduce muzzle flip so that it’s less noticeable than ever.
“When the scoring was done, I can’t say it was a real surprise.
