Brice will advance The Duck Hunters Organization’s mission to produce ducks and secure the future of waterfowl hunting
BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA — Delta Waterfowl has promoted Joel Brice, an employee of The Duck Hunters Organization since 2001, to the position of chief conservation officer.
Brice most recently served as Delta’s vice president of waterfowl and hunter recruitment programs, a position in which he led the organization’s duck production, habitat conservation and HunteR3 (recruitment/retention/reactivation) programs. His new role retains these responsibilities, while adding oversight of Delta’s research program and the organization’s marketing and communications department.
“Joel has proven himself an excellent leader and our finest project manager,” said Dr. Scott Petrie, chief executive officer of Delta Waterfowl. “His promotion really sets us up well for the future. We’re counting on him being here and providing long-term leadership stability for these vital functions. Tying the marketing and communications department directly to our conservation and research programs will be a big win. It shortens and directs the pipeline of information directly from the source to our members, donors and the public.”
Brice is a nationally recognized leader in the R3 movement, having advanced Delta’s First Hunt program — the largest waterfowl-hunter recruitment program in North America — and pioneered Delta’s University Hunting Program. In recognition of his expertise, he represents Delta Waterfowl on the board of directors of the Council to Advance Hunting and the Shooting Sports, and he serves on The Hunting Wire’s Voice of Leadership Panel in partnership with the NRA’s Hunter Leadership Forum. Additionally, Brice produces and hosts Delta’s “Voice of the Duck Hunter” podcast.

Brice graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point with a bachelor of science in wildlife management, and earned his master’s degree in wildlife biology from the University of North Dakota. He is married with two children and lives outside of Bismarck. Though his professional passions are conservation and wildlife management, he enjoys all kinds of outdoor adventures, especially back country hunting, fishing, camping and horse training/riding. Waterfowling holds a special appeal for him because of its social nature and its unlimited opportunities to introduce newcomers to hunting.
