Epic Hunts Await in Petersen’s HUNTING June/July Adventure Issue

DENVER (May 6, 2025) – Adventure lies at the very soul of Petersen’s HUNTING, and the newest issue of the leading outdoor magazine builds on that foundation with an impressive array of heart-pounding hunts from around the world. Tag along as their crack staff of contributors travels far and wide, rifles in hand, in search of the most challenging, most exciting encounters in the world’s rugged and untamed locales. The June/July 2025 Adventure issue of Petersen’s HUNTING is now available on newsstands or via subscription for just $12 per year.

“Here at HUNTING, there is no off-season,” said David Draper, editor in chief. “Our special June/July issue continues the long-standing tradition of going wherever adventure takes us. Every year I look forward to reading stories from some of the most-experienced hunters in the world, including our own Executive Field Editor Craig Boddington. Our staff of trusted contributors is not afraid to travel to the most remote locations in the world in search of the hunt, danger be damned.”

Among other exciting adventures, the new issue of HUNTING includes:

  • David Draper relates a heart-pounding encounter with Africa’s Black Death, the Cape buffalo.
  • Joseph von Benedikt climbs high into the Southern Alps for chamois and tahr.
  • Kevin Steele searches for his roots while hunting whistling stags among the fog-covered peaks of Ireland.

SPECIAL BOOK EXCERPT – HUNTING’s Adventure Issue takes the literal pages from Boddington’s newest book “50 Great Stalks,” with a look-back at some of the author’s favorite hunts for Sitka blacktail deer.

True to form, the new issue also delivers on the magazine’s heritage as the authentic voice for hunters, with departments designed to inform, educate and entertain:

  • Whitetails: Will Brantley discovers the lost art of the recurve bow.
  • Guns & Loads: A hard test of Howa’s Yote rifle, chambered in the hot new .22 ARC.
  • Open Country: Joseph von Benedikt argues against the new trend of sub-caliber rifles for big-game.
  • Rear View: Legendary outdoorsman Jim Zumbo lives up to his backpage column’s title with his hilarious memories of answering nature’s call in the woods.
  • Plus, the debut of a new department – Wheels Afield – focused on all-things heading to off-highway adventure.
