Henry Lever Action .410 Shotgun Review

Henry Repeating Arms blew 2017 out of the water with several new releases and the introduction of the .410 bore shotgun is no exception.  If you are into small game hunting and are looking for a firearm that rises up to your shoulder with ease, the Henry .410 lever action is the shotgun you have been looking for all your life.

About the .410

My very first gun was a .410 single shot.  My grandfather had passed it down to me for hunting dove in our backyard in Strathmore, California.  Over those first 3 years, I had 3 different .410 shotguns that unfortunately were all taken in 2 home robberies.  We cured that with a serious gun safe and an alarm system.  The Henry Lever Action .410 Shotgun is hands and feet above anything that I’ve had the pleasure to shoot in my early days of small game hunting.

The Henry .410 Lever Action is based on the .45-70 platform with a five-shot tube-loading magazine chambered for 2.5” shells.  The steel action, American Walnut checkering, pistol grip wrists, sling swivel studs and solid black recoil pad come together in a sweet shotgun that gives you that instant pride of owning a quality American-made firearm.

The H018-410 & The H018-410R

The H018-410 is the long version of the Henry Lever Action .410 Shotgun with a 24” barrel, removable choke, front brass bead and no rear sight.  The H018-410R offers a 20” barrel with a cylinder bore choke and an adjustable semi-buckhorn rear and brass bead front sight.  The HO18-410R is meant for brush-busting and tight terrain where shots are close and quick.  We opted for the HO18-410 with the 24” barrel to focus on dove and squirrel hunting.

In Conclusion

We are smitten with this great shotgun.  It’s such a joy to shoot all day without a single bruised shoulder.  Whether you are a true fan of small-gauge hunting or you are looking for the best shotgun for a beginner just getting into hunting, we encourage you to take a look at the Henry .410 shotguns.  You will fall in love with this new platform and make someone extremely happy this season.  Regardless of whether you keep this shotgun or pass it on to a new hunter, you can take pride in knowing it is a 100% American-made.
