On August 18th, 2009 the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries voted to prohibit elk hunting in the state of Virginia with the intention of pursuing a reintroduction program in our great commonwealth. Volunteers of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia are excited about the possibilities to come.
