I am not getting Skunked this Year

Because of us going away and any deer we would have gotten would have been given away…so I vowed I was only trophy hunting this year.

And so far it didn’t matter if I was starved to death, because I hadn’t seen a one except for the 2 or 3 pet bucks that hang around and things would really have to be hard to sh0ot them… one’s crippled and the other is just a spike and helps the other walk…sad in a way.

Well last night after getting home at 5-ish I saw movement way out back…I went in the house and got out my binoculars and only saw one side of antlers way, way back. So I said to myself- self… dar bee’s a Buck…the first one this season. So a quick change and spray down with scent thingems….And I went up my tree stand… and at that magic last half hour he walked past me…he stopped. Stood, all with in 20 to 30 yards out without anything in the way…( HE had to have known…..) and I let him go…AND I felt good that I held out… yes yearsssssssss ago I would have been talking about the monster buck I got for years to come…  but I vowed to my self…. BIG 8 or better... I know there around… so I may not even see another Buck… but for the first time… that’s OK… I could have. It’s almost like when us old guys (think) we get hit on by some young honey and say “NO thanks I’m Happily Married”…    “But I could have”   totally delusional … but it
works… for us gray hairs…

So that could have been my whole hunting season because I only have 3 more weeks left to hunt this year…

And I won’t bother God at all for a deer, because I only ask for things of importance…

But if he’s not doing anything and just surfing the e-mails around…. and happens to see mine… I at least would like a point or a star for this…

I could have been a Cowboy………

Ps. The trail cameras picked him up latter that night near the house…
