ICYMI: USCCA President Joins Bearing Arms Podcast To Discuss Another Month of Record U.S. Gun Sales & Recent Record Increases in USCCA Members

WEST BEND, WI – Recently, Tim Schmidt, president and founder of the United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA), spoke with Cam Edwards on his podcast, Bearing Arms, about record-high background checks in June that reflects another month of record-high gun sales across the country.  As more and more Americans are embracing their Second Amendment right amidst coronavirus uncertainty and civil unrest, the USCCA is also seeing a surge in membership, spiking over 300 percent in the month of June alone.  The USCCA remains focused as one of the largest and fastest growing organizations in the country on providing self-defense education, training and legal protection for more than 350,000 responsible American gun owners.

Key Quotes From Tim Schmidt In His Interview With Bearing Arms:

  • “… firearm background checks spiked to all-time levels of 3.9 million in June alone, and I’m telling you our membership spiked by over 300 percent in the month of June… And not only people becoming members of the USCCA, but there is so much demand for training. I think people are smart they realize if I’m going to be a brand-new firearm owner, I need to know what I’m doing with this gun. And I applaud people for that perspective because it is very important.”
  • “… it’s important to remember that you can’t shoot a gun online, and the ultimate training is when you’re with a professional instructor or certified instructor… But you know like we talked about not everyone has easy access to that, especially during the COVID-19 crisis. But even now that more things are open… it’s still important to have a dual path training program where you [have] great virtual training and great live training… at USCCA we do both of those…”
  • “… a lot of these [first time gun owners] have tons of questions… ‘do I need a holster? How do I pick out a holster? Where do I get good training?’ And so I do feel a lot of these new customers are brand new gun owners.”
  • In response to Cam Edwards mentioning a Second Amendment awakening, Schmidt notes, “It’s a freedom awakening, and trust me, all these millions of new gun owners, they’re not thinking about going hunting, they’re thinking about protecting themselves.”
