Junior U.S. Shotgun Team Clenches Four Medals at World Cup

The junior U.S. shotgun team made four podium appearances at the 2024 International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) Porpetto Junior World Cup July 9-16.

Carey Garrison, of Crossville, Tennessee, topped the podium with a gold medal in Women’s Trap. Garrison, a 2024 CAT Games gold medalist in Women’s Team Trap, shot a 114/125 in the qualification round to earn her spot in the final. In the final, she outshot Sofia Goria, of Italy, who finished second. Garrison shot a final score of 40/50 to win her champion title.

Benjamin Keller, a Johnstown, Colorado, native, claimed another gold medal for USA as the men’s skeet champion. Keller, the 2023 and 2022 Men’s Skeet junior world champion, shot a 124/125 in the qualification round, landing him in the final. Keller shot 56/60 in the final, triumphing over Bhavtegh Gill, of India, who finished second.

Jordan Sapp, of Gilbert, Arizona, claimed the bronze medal in Men’s Skeet, joining Keller on the podium. Sapp shot an incredible 125/125 in the qualification round, breaking the junior world record that hadn’t been touched in over a decade. The score also tied the open age category world record, a score that three-time Olympic gold medalist Vincent Hancock has shot a number of times. In the final, Sapp beat out Tomas Vaitekunas, of Lithuania, who finished fourth.

Madeline Corbin, of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, earned the fourth medal for the U.S. with her third place finish in Women’s Skeet. Corbin secured her spot in the finals by shooting a 116/125 in the qualification round. In the final, Corbin beat out Adriana Zajickova, of Slovakia, who placed fourth.
