If you hunt for food, you are the do-it-yourself type of person. So when it comes to preparing your game meat, or really any kind of meat, you want products that provide the opportunity to be involved in the process from start to finish. The folks at MEAT! know this, and that is why they offer a plethora of products designed to help you prepare, process and preserve the meat you work so hard to procure.
We recently tried out the 5 lb. vertical sausage stuffer. With venison, lamb, pork, and beef in the freezer waiting to be consumed, we decided to try our hand at sausage making. The process of grinding meat is well-known to us, as we grind venison every year for meat loaves, burgers, and spaghetti sauce. The idea of making sausage was, frankly, a little more intimidating.
It need not be. Making sausage with MEAT!’s 5 lb. Vertical Sausage Stuffer could not have been easier. We took the parts out of the packaging, rinsed them off and dried them, and got to work. We had already ground up pork Boston Butt and some beef sirloin, two parts to one, and combined them well. We then mixed in some spices, chopped jalapeno, and half a can of beer just to moisten the meat mixture a bit. Once combined, we placed the mixture into the canister of the sausage stuffer, attached the casings to the stuffing tubes, and used the easy crank handle to gently fill the casings to the desired size for our bratwursts.
Once we ran out of meat, we disassembled the sausage stuffer and cleaned the parts. The stainless steel canister is easy to clean, and a quick wash with soap and water made fast work of clean up.
Now that we know how easy MEAT!’s Vertical Sausage Stuffer is to use, it will become a regular part of our meat preparation process. We now look forward to breakfast sausage, kielbasa, and a variety of other brats and summer sausages.
We like the 5 lb. version of this sausage stuffer ($129.99) for our family of four. If you are looking to make more at a time, MEAT! offers the stuffer in a 15 lb. size ($279.99). You can check out these stuffers as well as mixers, saws, scales, slicers, dehydrators, vacuum sealers, and grinders
