The Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA) and the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW), the association representing shooting sports wholesalers, manufacturers, and their trade partners, are now accepting submissions for the 2022 Caliber Awards.
“Since the creation of the Caliber Awards a few years back, they have been a staple in the shooting sports industry,” said Kenyon Gleason, NASGW President. “To be recognized as a Caliber Award finalist, let alone a winner, is a true honor. You are chosen by a group of judges who live and breathe this industry and it’s their business to know these products.”
The Caliber Awards offer a unique, unbiased approach to recognizing and honoring new innovative products. The voting panel is comprised of the people who buy and sell these products on a daily basis as well as the media members who review and report on these products in the field. Winners will be announced at the NASGW Expo in Kansas City, MO in October. Caliber Award categories including: Best New Rifle, Best New Handgun, Best New Shotgun, Best New Ammunition, Best New Optic, and Best New Accessory.
An independent panel of 18 industry judges will select the winners in each category as well as a Best Overall New Product. In order to qualify, manufacturers need to be a NASGW member in good standing, the product must be publicly released between the end of last year’s NASGW Expo and the beginning of this year’s Expo, and submission of the products is required through the NASGW Expo New Product Showcase, found on the NASGW Expo website.
“The partnership between NASGW and POMA has been great and continues to expand with the Caliber Awards and the Shooting Sports Showcase,” said Thomas MacAulay, Executive Director of POMA. “We are excited to offer a new twist for the 2022 Caliber Award winners and finalists.”
New for 2022, the winner of the Best Overall Product will also receive a free spot at the 2023 Shooting Sports Showcase in March at the CMP Taladega Marksmanship Park in Talladega, AL. Individual category winners will receive a 25% discount and each finalist will receive a 10% discount. The Shooting Sports Showcase is a private event providing firearms companies with the opportunity to showcase their products to distributors, dealers, and members of the media.
Businesses can submit their products through the NASGW Expo website prior to the August 1st deadline. Submissions will be narrowed down to a group of finalists in each category before a winner is chosen. Finalists will have the ability to display their product on the show floor at the NASGW Expo in October. For more information please visit the NASGW Expo website.
