Nicholas Berry wins 35th Ducks in the Desert Continental Shoot

Ducks Unlimited’s 35th annual Ducks in the Desert Continental Sporting Clays Shoot took place March 4-7, in Las Vegas, crowning Nicholas Berry of Santa Ana, Calif., as the High Overall (HOA) champion with a score of 184/200.

Held at the world-class Clark County Shooting Complex in North Las Vegas, the event hosted 250 skilled clay shooters from around North America in the name of supporting wetlands conservation. In past years, more than 400 participants turned out for the annual event, but due to local COVID-19 guidelines event capacity was limited to 250 for this year’s event.

“As always, this was a phenomenal weekend. We are glad the shooters turned out and enjoyed themselves for a great cause – wetlands and wildlife conservation,” said DU President Doug Schoenrock. “We thank our competitors, supporters and DU volunteers for coming out and supporting us. We also thank our sponsors who make this a premiere shooting event year after year.”

This year’s event featured title sponsors Browning Arms, Federal Ammunition and The Plaza Hotel and Casino.

“We’ll once again be at the Clark County Shooting complex Las Vegas and we’re looking forward to a good time with a record turnout in 2022,” said DU National Shooting Committee Chair Jim Konkel. “Make plans to join us. We had a grand time with some challenging targets and good comradery this year. Hopefully we will be back to our normal field size in 2022. If you were hesitant to come out this year, rest assured next year’s event will be better than ever.”

Ducks Unlimited will also host the Eastern Continental Shoot Sept. 29-Oct. 3 at the Bass Pro Shops Shooting Academy in Branson, Mo. Registration is open on www.scorechaser.com.
