I first learned how to call elk in 2003, though I have never been very good at calling elk. I sound like a ratty young spike at best, but sometimes that really weak sounding satellite bull is a little more agonizing to a worked up bull than sounding like a big herd bull. I have had enough success with this method that I will probably keep it around for the time being. At the moment, I am much more interested in becoming a better turkey caller and duck caller than worrying about elk. I have spent some serious time filming some of the best elk callers in the world. I love watching techniques in the field with guides.
