The 2019 Atlantic hurricane season opened in catastrophic fashion as Hurricane Dorian slowly churned across the Bahamas and up the eastern seaboard of the United States and Canada. On September 1, the storm stalled over the islands of Grand Bahama and Abaco, unleashing catastrophic winds and flooding. More than 70,000 have had their homes destroyed.
While the storm’s dramatic impact made headlines around the world, the real work of recovery begins after the clouds clear. Many of the newly homeless are evacuating. Those that stay behind face widespread power outages and damaged infrastructure. Survival, for many, now rests on their ability to find clean water. This is SUVIVOR FILTER’s mission.
