When we were offered the chance to test out the Switch Vision Tenaya Lake Sunglasses, I personally jumped at the chance. It is not often that a company offers to send out a quality set of sunglasses with the options of the Switch Vision System. The system came just in time for hunting season so we were pretty excited to bring them out on some hunt. Switch Vision offers a system of a single frame sunglass with the option of being able to switch lenses out depending upon the conditions.
With our Tenaya Lake Switch Vision Sunglasses in Translucent Red, we got with the initial system a Polarized TC Grey set of lenses, a low light Rose Amber set of lenses, a set of the Polarized True Color Grey with Blue Reflection and a set of the Sun Readers in Grey with Silver Mirror. Yes that is correct, I got bi-focals in my sunglasses and they have become one of my favorite lenses in the set.
The system is exceptional as the lenses snap in with magnets, yes very powerful magnets and the extra lenses come in a plastic case with the same magnets and fit easily in your pocket so you can wear the glasses with one set of lenses and carry and extra set for when conditions change. I personally hate carrying various sets of glasses and especially my reading glasses when i am out running around town so having this set of of lenses that I can easily snap into the frame system that allows me to read a menu, look at a map or even read my iphone email is an exceptional option that really allows me to enjoy the outdoors without having to carry my reading glasses.
The lenses are available in several variations of colors and options. My two favorite lenses are the Polarized True Color Grey in Reflection Blue and of course the Grey Sun Readers. I find that these two lenses are the my go to lenses for most of what I do. I could easily see getting a set of the Yellow Low Light Ski lenses for shooting on the range and I look forward to seeing some of the new options they come up with in the next several years. The frames are solid, the lenses lock in with the powerful magnets and no matter how hard I tried, I could not shake the lenses out whch gave me peice of mind in knowing I would not lose a lens no matter what my activity was.
Switch Vision has many different options but I am quite happy with the Tenaya Lake frames. They fit my face quite well, provide great coverage and most of all look exceptional(In my opinion).
While these sunglasses are not cheap like the kind you get at your gas station, the quality of the optics and the options available are exceptional. If your getting to be a little older like me and you find yourself squinting like I often am at the simplest thing like my Iphone, order a set of the Grey Sun Readers and begin to see what I see which is one heck of a useful tool to help you read and still be able to look cool in the outdoors as well as protect your eyes from the bright sunlight. This set is mine and it will not be going back to the manufacturer or given away…I am keeping them!!!
