TaurusTX™22 Named Guns & Ammo Handgun of the Year

November 2019 (Miami, FL) – Taurus®, manufacturer of premium handguns for defense, hunting, and sporting applications, is excited to have been awarded the 2019 Handgun of the Year by the editors of Guns & Ammo magazine. This year, Guns & Ammo selected the new Taurus TX22 semi-auto pistol for their prestigious award.

The TX22 earned top billing in the magazine’s annual awards evaluation process out of a strong field of candidates. Criteria for selection included manufacturing standards, overall quality, performance meeting or exceeding design objectives, consumer appeal and value, and delivery.

Innovation was another key benchmark in the selection criteria, in which the Taurus TX22 is well represented. Developed as a full-size polymer frame .22LR semi-auto that performs like a custom-tuned pistol, the TX22 features ergonomic styling that fits a wide range of shooter hand sizes. Other highlights include 16+1 capacity, fully adjustable rear sight, a short, 5-lb. trigger pull, and an optimized slide weight for minimal recoil and fast target acquisition.

“We are extremely honored that the editors of Guns & Ammo selected the Taurus TX22 to be their Handgun of the Year,” said Taurus CEO David Blenker. “This award is testament to the innovative approach our designers and engineers take to deliver the kind of handguns our customers tell us they want.”
