The U.S. Concealed Carry Association Hosted an Online Discussion with Congressman Jim Jordan (OH-04) and Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) on the Importance of National Concealed Carry Reciprocity, Responsible Gun Ownership

West Bend, WI – U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) President and Founder Tim Schmidt hosted an online broadcast with U.S. Representatives Jim Jordan (OH-04) and Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) around the importance of protecting Americans’ right to self-defense and need to pass legislation such as H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act.  As key Members of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Jordan and Rep. Fitzgerald are on the front lines in Congress, safeguarding the gun rights of millions of law-abiding Americans who have chosen to become their families’ first lines of defense.

“The Second Amendment is right next to the First for a reason: because it is pretty darn important,” stated Rep. Jordan, who went on to stress that we are at a critical moment in our country and that’s why it is important to protect every single freedom we have now more than ever.

Concealed carry has been on Rep. Fitzgerald’s radar since his time in the Wisconsin State Senate where he helped lead the fight to pass concealed carry protections.  Today, he recognizes the work states have been doing across borders and party lines to “try and develop strategies… that would meet the same standards as [their] neighboring states.”  He remains a strong advocate for national concealed carry reciprocity to end the patchwork of local, state and federal laws that jeopardize the safety of law-abiding gun owners, saying that “H.R. 38 is almost trying to catch up with what state legislatures have already been trying to attempt… I am hopeful that we will get there because it does put some people in jeopardy.”

While the Congressmen work to raise support amongst their colleagues in Congress, the USCCA is hard at work to drive national support for concealed carry reciprocity, launching an online petition this year that garnered over 315,000 signatures in favor of the National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act (H.R.38).  This year, Schmidt has penned two op-eds in The Hill newspaper as well as Townhall.com in which he outlined the importance of Congress finally addressing concealed carry reciprocity instead of more failed anti-gun laws.  In addition, Schmidt has penned a letter to President Biden on behalf of more than 600,000 USCCA members expressing the importance of national concealed carry reciprocity and protecting gun rights for all Americans.

The USCCA remains committed to meeting the growing demand for firearm safety and training as gun sales and the number of first-time purchasers continue to climb across the nation.  In the last year alone, the USCCA reached over 600,000 members and more than 8,000 instructors across the country.  The organization has seen unprecedented growth, including a 277% increase in new jobs created over the last several years.

About the USCCA. The U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) is an association of responsible armed Americans whose members get exceptional self-defense education, lifesaving training, and self-defense liability insurance, preparing them for the before, during and after of a lawful act of self-defense. The USCCA is the largest, fastest-growing self-defense association dedicated to responsible gun owners.
