U.S. LAWSHIELD® PRAISES CONNECTICUT CITIZENS DEFENSE LEAGUE ON IMPROVING PISTOL PERMIT DELAYS

Federal Lawsuit Success

U.S. LawShield®, industry leader and America’s largest provider of Legal Defense for Self Defense®  coverage and proud supporter of the Connecticut Citizens Defense League (CCDL), praises the organization for its role in facilitating a timelier application process for Connecticut citizens to obtain firearm permits in the City of Bridgeport.

“U.S. LawShield stood in firm support of the CCDL when they took the City of Bridgeport to federal court for violating the Second Amendment rights of its citizens,” said P.J. Hermosa, CEO of U.S. LawShield. “When bureaucrats attempt to infringe on people’s right to self-defense, it is time for action. We proudly offer our assistance to organizations like the CCDL when it comes to preserving the constitutional rights of people burdened with barriers such as those happening in Connecticut.”

In August, the CCDL filed a federal civil lawsuit against the City of Bridgeport (and others) for illegally delaying city residents’ applications for municipal firearm permits. That application is only the first step in the lengthy process of obtaining a state-issued pistol permit. Since the legal action occurred, the City of Bridgeport has reformed its practices to allow applicants a much faster process.

According to CCDL President Holly Sullivan, “Imagine the stress of waiting numerous months or even years to apply for your firearm permit. Law-abiding citizens should not have to suffer or forgo their right to bear arms because of unwarranted delays. Rest assured, the CCDL will keep an eye on how long the City of Bridgeport takes to process those applications and will act again if required,” she added.

“The burden and expense of legal action are difficult for individuals to manage on their own, and that is why our partnership with U.S. LawShield is so crucial. Their financial support allows us to work on behalf of our citizens and further protect their Second Amendment rights,” she said.

“The CCDL’s victory in Connecticut is a positive outcome for the residents of Bridgeport,” said Hermosa. “We remain unwavering in our commitment to protect the rights of law-abiding gun owners by supporting organizations like the CCDL,” he stated.
