USCCA Unveils First Program Under New Training Leadership

Program Aims to Equip Responsibly Armed Gun Owners with Critical Skills

WEST BEND, WI – The U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA), a leading authority in firearms education, proudly unveils the Defensive Pistol Program (DPP), a groundbreaking course meticulously crafted to empower participants with essential defensive shooting skills. The program is set to launch in the spring of 2024, with a sneak peek offered at SHOT Show 2024.

Last year marked a significant milestone for the USCCA as they welcomed a distinguished addition to their team, Rob Chadwick, a 20-year Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) veteran who spearheaded the organization’s tactical training program. Under his leadership, the Defensive Pistol Program has emerged as a testament to the USCCA’s expertise and commitment to providing top-tier training.

This comprehensive course employs a dual approach, incorporating both live-fire and dry-fire training methods to ensure a well-rounded skill development experience. The curriculum is rooted in objective and performance-based training, drawing upon motor learning and skill acquisition science. Participants will gain a profound understanding of firearm use in a defensive context, supported by practical experience.

At the heart of the Defense Pistol Program lies our dedication to reshaping the landscape of defensive firearms training,” said Tim Schmidt, Chairman and Co-Founder of the USCCA. “We strive to empower individuals with the knowledge and transformative skills needed to navigate real-world situations effectively, and Rob’s unparalleled expertise and commitment to excellence while overseeing all USCCA forthcoming curriculum will undoubtedly strengthen that mission.

The Defensive Pistol Program covers various vital training aspects, including safety concepts, proper gear selection, and shooting techniques. The course structure seamlessly blends theory, hands-on practice, and rigorous evaluation, laying the foundation for more advanced technical training.

Performance assessment in the DPP is thorough, encompassing crucial metrics such as draw time, shot splits, and the achievement of evaluation standards. This meticulous evaluation process ensures participants hone their skills effectively, providing a clear path for continuous improvement.

With the Defense Pistol Program, we’re introducing an all-encompassing initiative that includes both a certified instructor course and end-user training,” said Rob Chadwick, Director of Education and Training for the USCCA. “This upcoming launch underscores our commitment to providing a comprehensive training ecosystem, catering to both those imparting the knowledge and those seeking to enhance their ability to be their own defender.

The overarching goal of the Defensive Pistol Program is to equip responsibly armed citizens with the tools and knowledge needed to prevail in dynamic critical incidents. This program is a testament to USCCA’s unwavering commitment to fostering a community of skilled and responsible gun owners by instilling confidence and proficiency.
