WESN EDC ALLMAN KNIFE REVIEW

Every once in a while something comes into your hands that just feels good.  You know that it will change the way you think about the tools you own in your life.  The WESN Allman knife is one of those unique tools that just feels good.  And it is a substantially better tool than what has come before it.

The Allman is balanced, functional and solid.  The combination of the Allman with the leather sheath feels right in your pocket alongside your keys, your phone and four quarters.  It has a bit of heft at 3.6 ounces.  Closed, it fills out 3.8 inches but it opens to a substantial 6.65 inches with a 2.8 inch blade.  The blade steel on this is S35vn and it is a flip knife that, kept properly lubricated, will open in fractions of a second with a Stainless steel Frame-lock or Liner lock.  The pocket clip leaves a lot to be desired; it is almost impossible to get on my belt and does not work well clipping it into my pocket.  I seriously considered pulling off the pocket clip, but I do like having that tactile grip on the knife that my fingers can rest on. Having a more pronounced pocket clip would certainly not hurt this knife but would not be ideal for the included leather sheath.

We ordered the lanyard and some leather conditioner from WESN as I feel like the knife needs the lanyard and it is no question that the leather needs a little conditioner.  I hope it patinas over time through normal handling and that it can become a heirloom that will be passed on to one of my kids.  WESN is famous for the Microblade knife, and the WESN Allman is an even more substantial microblade flip knife. WESN Knives come with a strong Lifetime Warranty. A knife is only as good as what you can do with it. The WESN Allman has a strong solid blade that is sharp enough to shave garlic and strong enough to cut rope and just about everything in between.  It is not the knife I would want to gut and skin a deer but honestly if it was the only knife that I had on me at the time, I have no doubts it would stand up to the test in flying colors.  I was able to shave garlic with it and cut through a rope with no issues.  This is the knife I will be carrying as a part of my minimal EDC on a daily basis.
