WORXNitro Snow Blower Review

Snow is pretty on Christmas day, everyone wants a white Christmas filled with a few inches of that fluffy white stuff. All of the rest of the year, let’s be honest, snow is a pain in the butt. Shoveling is great exercise they say, i have to disagree. Shoveling provides great opportunities to make money for our nations youth. I say, “Bah Humbug” to all of that craziness. Waking up to fresh snow fall is not my idea of a fun morning. For the last several years, I have lugged a snow machine from my home and across to my inlaws and my aunts driveway and driven over to my moms to do her driveway. It’s a workout and remembering gas, oil and maintenance on a big snow machine is a bit of a chore.

This year, I am trying out something different. Enter the WORXNitro 40V Power Snow Blower. It takes rechargeable batteries and the entire unit weighs under 42 Lbs so it is easy to move around it breaks down to a small compact foot print. The WORXNitro Snow Blower comes with an easily collapsible handle as well as a built in handle allowing you to pick it up and move it around with ease. It is out of the way until you are ready and need to use it. Store the batteries inside a warm garage and you can keep them topped up and ready to use at a moments notice.

The auger covers 20 inches of space and 10 inches deep so it can move some snow. This is not the unit you are going to want in areas that get big snow dumps unless you are willing to keep up with the snow fall in shifts.

With the two included batteries It is reported to run for a full two hours although we have not tested that yet. There is no oil, gas or tuning to keep this thing running and the internals are smooth so snow is not going to get caught anywhere near the auger. The 20V batteries work in tandem to push the brushless motor allowing it to run on less batteries for a longer time. With no-load the motor runs at 2300 RPM and with a load of snow less fast but still extremely efficient. The batteries on this can be used on other WORX tools(Like over 100 different options) so you can pair this purchase with other great lawn and garden tools from worx.com and online retailers including Amazon.

A couple of things we really liked about this particular unit is the speed of the auger as well as the quietness of the motor. With no electric engine the entire unit is extremely quiet to run and operate and it has dual LED front lights so you can run the entire thing in the evening after you get back home from work or in the early morning before you head out to work. The LEDs automatically go on once the snow blower is powered on the bail handle is squeezed. This snow blower is a lightweight unit and you have to push it through to eat the snow. It’s going to do best in light fluffy snow that is fresh. Wet and ugly snow you are going to have to do in small sections and attack it incrementally as the snow falls. Get out early and get out often and you can keep up. Pay attention to your wind direction with this snow blower as well as where you need to go next.

When blowing a driveway, utilize the wind and the discharge chute to kick the snow as far away from your driveway as possible and grid out the entire driveway so you are able to attack the snow with a plan and with the most ease. If your driveway is on a slope try and use gravity to move the snowblower down the hill blowing snow as you go. Large chunks of snow and ice are not going to work with this blower and this is the time to get out the shovel and attack those sections instead of using a snow blower.

The two WORX 20V, 4.0Ah max lithium batteries are seated side-by-side in a sealed compartment on the back of the snowblower. The unit comes with 4-amp dual-port battery charger and both batteries can be charged in about 2 hours. Keep the batteries in your house or garage and warm and never store your batteries inside the unit when not in use, it will just degrade your batteries over time.

We found this unit priced under $450.00 locally and on an extreme discount at Amazon.com. The WORKNitro (WG471) Snow Blower comes with a WORX five-year limited warranty and so far we are impressed with it overall. Less time shoveling snow means more time living the #huntinglife.
