Columbia, MO – Giving Tuesday, the global day of giving that falls after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, was once again the biggest day of the year for MidwayUSA Foundation. The public charity that helps fund thousands of youth shooting teams brought in $221,313 on November 30, surpassing their goal to raise $200,000. The funds raised on Giving Tuesday have also been matched at $0.90 on the dollar thanks to Larry and Brenda Potterfield, owners of MidwayUSA, who fund the MidwayUSA Foundation Matching Program.
MidwayUSA Foundation Executive Director, G. Scott Reynolds said, “Once again, we are blown away by the generosity of our donors, as well as the hard work of the youth shooting teams, coaches, and volunteers that we know are out there fundraising! A successful Giving Tuesday means more opportunities provided to our youth that desire to be part of a shooting team.” Nearly 500 youth shooting teams received a donation on Giving Tuesday.
Participating teams also had the chance to win additional funds to grow their respective endowment. The teams that received the most donations on Giving Tuesday received awards ranging from $5,000 to $500. In addition to the top teams, all other participating teams were entered into a random draw and 10 teams were drawn to receive $500. Visit MidwayUSA Foundation’s blog to see the full list of winners. 5th Place(tie), Aitkin County Elite Sharpshooters (ACES) – [MN] $500
5th Place(tie), Shanksville-Stonycreek High School – [PA] $500
Donations made to youth shooting teams and organizations now and through the end of the year will also be matched. Every donation made to a MidwayUSA Foundation endowment is tax-deductible. There are no fees removed and 100% of the donor’s gift benefits that endowment, directly. The Foundation keeps nothing for operations. Many shooting sports athletes become future hunters and conservationists too. An investment in youth shooting sports is an investment in the entire outdoor industry.
