Designed for outdoorsmen wanting a little extra refinement in their high performance rainwear, New Zealand based cult clothing brand Swazi Apparel has built on the success of their top selling Wapiti jacket to create the XP version.
Utilising the company’s latest pioneering fabric technology, generation 4 AEGIS® three-layer whisper, the jacket is fully waterproof, windproof and breathable, yet comfortable to wear with stretch incorporated. The material’s nap level has been lowered, which means the outside of the fabric won’t hold as much water, yet is still very soft and quiet – an essential for hunters.
Nothing was overlooked when it came to Swazi’s legendary hood. Protruding into an adjustable peak, stiffened with both a durable liner and hood wire, it’s firm yet malleable, enabling excellent vision, even for those who wear glasses. The hood can now be detached when not required, but when in use offers excellent water shedding.
Following feedback from customers, Swazi learned that many people were using the Wapiti as a shooting jacket, so added extra features specifically for this market. Namely two new covered tabs at either side of the neck, which prevent shotguns from getting marked or scratched on domes or zips when raising the stock to your cheek.
The two handwarmer pockets have been moved from behind the main bellow pockets to the chest, with new tabs added to clip open the large pockets below, as well as mesh holes to allow any gathered water to easily drain away.
Going one step further, removable bistable strips – thin lightweight metal bars – which hold the pockets open and snap close have been added to each bellow pocket allowing quick and easy access to cartridges. These bistable strips can also be removed by simply opening the buttonholes at the back of each pocket and sliding them out.
With new stretch inner cuffs and touch-tape outer cuffs, the sleeves stay exactly where you want them to, helping to prevent any draughts. While the jacket’s side vents allow for unrestricted walking and climbing movement.
