Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Earn NWTF Corporate Achievement Award

EDGEFIELD, S.C.— For decades of support and for taking its generosity to new heights in 2020, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s received the National Wild Turkey Federation’s Corporate Achievement Award.

Bass Pro Shops founder and CEO Johnny Morris accepted the award during the NWTF’s 45th Convention and Sport Show held virtually in 2021.

“The National Wild Turkey Federation is one of the most significant conservation leaders in the nation and one of our most important partners,” said Morris. “I’m honored to accept this award on behalf of our entire outdoor family including our passionate team members and customers. Together, we remain steadfast in our commitment to helping NWTF continue its efforts to protect habitat, wildlife and the outdoor traditions we love.”

Presented annually by the NWTF, the Corporate Achievement Award recognizes the outstanding work and dedication corporate partners have displayed in conserving wildlife and habitat and preserving America’s outdoors lifestyle.

Throughout the decades of partnership and support, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s has continually supported the NWTF through numerous funding programs and conservation initiatives and is its largest and most generous partner.

The support from Morris’ Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s has facilitated the conservation and enhancement of millions of acres of wildlife habitat and recruited countless new or lapsed hunters.

And while Morris’ support of the NWTF is evident in the decades of generosity he has extended to the organization, the support provided to the NWTF in 2020 was unprecedented.

Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s was not immune to the economic effects of COVID-19 but still found ways to support the NWTF. Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s provided funding for NWTF conservation work at the annual Convention and Sport Show early in 2020 before offering more support during the NWTF’s Call for All campaign after nearly all fundraising banquets had been postponed or cancelled. Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund continued to drive funding for conservation projects throughout the country, and Morris graciously allowed the NWTF to host its virtual Convention and Sport Show at his Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium in Springfield, Missouri. Time and time again, Morris has demonstrated his support for the NWTF mission.

“No other person or organization has done for the NWTF what Johnny Morris has done through Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s,” NWTF CEO Becky Humphries said. “Not only has Johnny entered a philanthropic class of his own through his continual support, but his genuine desire to conserve our country’s natural treasures and continue our outdoor heritage is evident in everything he does. I am endlessly thankful for Johnny’s support and friendship to the NWTF.”

About the National Wild Turkey Federation
When the National Wild Turkey Federation was founded in 1973, there were about 1.3 million wild turkeys in North America. After decades of work, that number hit a historic high of almost 7 million turkeys. To succeed, the NWTF stood behind science-based conservation and hunters’ rights. Today, the NWTF is focused on the future of hunting and conservation through its Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative – a charge that mobilizes science, fundraising and devoted volunteers to conserve or enhance more than 4 million acres of essential wildlife habitat, recruit at least 1.5 million hunters and open access to 500,000 acres for hunting.
