Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Joins NWTF Convention and Sport Show as Full Strut Sponsor

EDGEFIELD, S.C.—The National Wild Turkey Federation announces leading outdoor retailer Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s as a Full Strut Sponsor for its upcoming Convention and Sport Show, set to return to Nashville in February of 2022.

“The National Wild Turkey Federation is one of our nation’s foremost conservation leaders and most valued partners,” said Bob Ziehmer, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s senior director of conservation. “The annual NWTF Convention and Sport Show is a gathering point for all who love the outdoors and conservation, raising funds that enable game-changing conservation efforts. We’re honored to support the NWTF in its effort to protect habitat, wildlife and our sporting heritage, and we look forward to another impactful NWTF Convention and Sport Show in Nashville.”

As a Full Strut Sponsor, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s is providing support for many aspects of the Convention and Sport Show, including, but not limited to, sponsorship of Thursday’s Kickoff Party and Rendezvous sessions set for Feb. 17-18. Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s is also donating a SUN TRACKER Pontoon and TRACKER OFF ROAD side-by-side UTV to convention auctions to raise crucial funding for conservation and the NWTF mission.

Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s, guided by the visionary leadership of noted conservationist and Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris, are the NWTF’s largest partner. In 2021, Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium stepped in to host the NWTF’s Virtual Convention and Sport Show from Springfield, Missouri, enabling the conservation world to gather safely during the ongoing pandemic.

“The consistent support from Johnny Morris, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s is truly meaningful,” said Natalia Daniels, NWTF national director of corporate relations and licensing. “They play a vital role in the experience NWTF Convention and Sport Show attendees have in Nashville and, in turn, our nationwide conservation efforts. We can’t thank Johnny Morris and the entire Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s family enough for the scope of their support in NWTF’s mission.”

The NWTF Convention and Sport Show, officially sponsored by Mossy Oak, is set to begin Thursday, Feb. 17 with the Rendezvous sessions, the Kickoff Party and the opening of the Sport Show floor, which features more than 350 of the best vendors in the outdoor industry. The NWTF Sport Show runs from Thursday to Saturday in the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. Convention festivities conclude with a worship service on Sunday, Feb. 20.

About the National Wild Turkey Federation

When the National Wild Turkey Federation was founded in 1973, there were about 1.3 million wild turkeys in North America. After decades of work, that number hit a historic high of almost 7 million turkeys. To succeed, the NWTF stood behind science-based conservation and hunters’ rights. Today, the NWTF is focused on the future of hunting and conservation through its Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative. Since 2012, this 10-year initiative has already eclipsed goals of conserving or enhancing more than 4 million acres of essential wildlife habitat, recruiting or retaining more than 1.5 million hunters and opening access to more than 500,000 acres for hunting and other recreation opportunities. This critical work will continue to impact wildlife habitat and our great outdoors in the final years of the initiative.
