Decathon Quechua 2 Second Tent Review

This is the Game Changing Tent You Have Been Dreaming About

I have owned and slept in a lot of tents over the last 50 years.  My grandfather still had a 14 by 20 foot wall tent when I was 5 years old, and I remember it taking several hours to put up and build.  I had pop up tents growing up that got better every 5 to 10 years when we got a new one.  About a month ago, I got the chance to see via a Zoom conference the Decathlon Quechua 2 second Easy Fresh and Black, Waterproof Camping Tent.  I was blown away! Even more exciting was that when UPS showed up the very next day we had our own Decathlon to play with and use.  We were pretty excited to use this tent and show off the features to family.

The great news is that either alone or with someone, I can take this tent from the vehicle to the ground, open it up and have the entire tent set up in under a minute. The only other task I need to do is stake it down.  Pulling the cords on both sides opens this tent in under 2 seconds, hence the name.  The tent retails from Decathlon for $199.00 and I am going to say it honestly because I truly mean it, it is a GAME CHANGER.  No more fumbling for poles, no more wasting time putting together all of the clips, worrying about a separate rain fly. This entire tent is all one piece and it works seamlessly.

The interior black inner liner of the tent blocks out light in the daytime and allows you to get a great sleep in the outdoors.  We have tested it out here in Nebraska with serious winds, though we have not seen anything tornadic thrown at the tent. It holds up in 20 mph winds quite well and it’s rated up to 30mph in a wind tunnel with a turntable.  The tent is waterproof and the blackout fabric blocks out 99% of the light.  Air does move through the tent pretty well. The entire tent fits into a bag that is 8 by 8 by 24 inches.  The tent looks good but the real prize is its ease of use.

The Quechua 2 second tent weighs 10.4 lbs. Because of the weight, it may not be your go-to backcountry tent for packing in long distances, but you probably already have a favorite tent for those kinds of trips or hunts.  I might bring this tent with me on a fly in fishing trip or hunt because of the ability of the Fresh and Black outer fabric to block out light. With a 5 year guarantee and a team that stands behind everything they do, you really cannot go wrong with the Decathlon tent.  I know a Boy Scout in our family who is in absolute awe of this tent design, as are we.

Take a look at our video, this was only the second time we had ever opened this tent and put it away.  It truly is ground breaking and all at a price point that makes it extremely affordable!
