This week Ducks Unlimited Television (DU TV) takes you the Mississippi Delta, home of the blues and a storied duck hunting destination.
In this episode, co-host Ashley Horobetz hunts with DU’s Ducks University members and college rivals in the flooded timber near Tippo, Miss. University of Mississippi (UM) Chapter chairman Kenndi Pass joins Horobetz and Mississippi State (MSU) Chapter Chairman Ben Ferguson for some great action on fast-flying woodies and good-natured ribbing between the rival schools.
“Everyone knows there’s a rivalry between Ole Miss and Mississippi State,” Pass said. “But it’s really cool to see how that rivalry has fueled an amazing outpouring of support in both chapters leading to more resources for DU’s wetlands conservation efforts.”
The campuses of UM and MSU are located less than two hours apart in the state, and families often have members that attended both schools. So, the rivalry runs deep, but when it comes to raising money for Ducks Unlimited, students at both schools agree it’s good for the ducks.
“As much as we don’t like the school up north, we love them at the same time,” Hoffman said. “We are brothers and sisters in the organization and we both support the same cause. Whenever they do well, we try to do better and when we do well, they strive to outperform us. At the end of the day, all it really means is the ducks benefit.”
Also included on this episode of DU TV, retriever trainer Mike Stewart of Wildrose Kennels shows you proper whistle stop technique on “Duck Dog.” Phil Bourjaily talks about introducing young people to shooting on “Guns and Gear,” and DU CEO Adam Putnam discusses the R3 movement on “Insights.”
DU TV airs Tuesdays at 1 a.m., Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m., Fridays at noon, Saturdays at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Mondays at 3 a.m. (all times Eastern) on the Sportsman Channel. The Saturday 2 p.m. slot anchors “The Landing Zone presented by Ducks Unlimited” waterfowl and upland hunting lineup. Bonus content and classic episodes can also be found at www.ducks.org/dutv.
