Irving, TX – Brent Ehrler is the 2022 Major League Fishing (MLF) Challenge Cup champion. The Yamamoto Baits Pro topped the competition to secure his 2nd Challenge Cup title on the 10-year anniversary of his first MLF win.
The 2022 Lucas Oil Challenge Cup took place last September on Lake Wateree and Lake Wylie in South Carolina. The Challenge Cup is a made-for-TV event that is filmed and then aired at a later date. The results are kept confidential from everyone until the event airs. The final round premiered February 5th on the Outdoor Channel.
“To come out on top against this kind of competition is exciting to say the least,” says Ehrler, who credits the Yamamoto Senko for his success on the final day. “Every fish on that final day came from the Senko. When fishing is tough, I know I can always count on the Senko to pull its weight.”
The California pro knows a thing or two about what it takes to win. This was the 8th MLF win of Ehrler’s career. “I’ve had some close calls in the past few years, but this has been a long time coming for sure,” says Ehrler. “And it’s great that it happened on the 10-year anniversary of my last Challenge Cup win.”
