Henry Repeating Arms Color Case Hardened .30-30 Review

When it came time to order my new Henry rifle I was pretty darned excited. I wanted a rifle that felt good in my hands, looked great in my office and fit the environment where I would use the rifle. I didn’t want an overly bright and embellished rifle, but I did want a rifle that looked as good as it performed in the field. The Color Case Hardened .30-30 fits the bill perfectly.

About the Gun

The Color Case Hardened .30-30 is not a bright rifle but it is a beautiful rifle. Each time I hold the rifle, it reminds me of the men who taught me to hunt. Hunting alongside my dad in the 1970s, we hunted with a group of men who shot lever action .30-30s. I know these men would be proud that I am shooting a lever action like the Henry Color Case Hardened .30-30. American workers built this rifle in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. I like knowing Henry is 100% American made.

What I like most about this rifle is the quality of the fit on the wood, the quality of the steel, the amazing coloring on the steel and the overall look of this rifle. It rises to my shoulder quickly and it is easy to pick up the sights with the straight-wristed stock. This rifle works well for right- or left-handed shooters. I shoot right-handed and Marjorie shoots left-handed, so having a rifle I can hand over to her means she can shoot alongside me.

The Price

The furniture on the Henry rifle is checkered walnut and it matches the case coloring very well. The rifle comes in .30-30 and .45-70 and it is an absolute jewel to shoot. I love hunting with this rifle. I am just as excited hunting deer with this rifle as I am shooting coyotes. The M.S.R.P is $995.00. These rifles are exceptional and I am sure you will want to add it to your collection.
